We recently visited Tassia's Cooking located in the beautiful harbour of Steni Vala. After dining 3 times in Tassia during a 7 nights stay in Alonissos we all concluded that the service, the food, and the location lift this taverna with restaurant standards to the Best Place to eat in Alonissos. The fresh tuna with vinegar, the fried flower of zucchini with garlic skordalia, the sweet taste of vlita salad, and the unique cooking of the best lobster spaghetti in Alonissos along with the very warm smile and welcome from Christina and the rest of the staff all result in strongly recommending this ideal place ovetlooking the harbour as the Number One place to enjoy your dinner or lunch.

we are returning guests of this family run-by-the-sea restaurant and every time I admit the same thing.....their astako makaronada (lobster pasta) is the best in the world. unsophisticated to the point and all ingredients fresh!! lunch time they cook local dishes and are yiammy and fresh fish is always available!
the service is homey :) with Vaggelis and Christina serving with a smile!
I would definitely recommend it and will return!!!
congratulations to TAsias team for the great standard!

We first dined at this restaurant two years ago; we were staying in Kalimakia and had arrived very late from Manchester. The restaurants were closed nearby and we arrived at Tassia around 11 pm, very hungry and very tired. Although most diners had gone or were finishing their meals, we had no problem getting served. Souvlaki, Greek salad and a bottle of local wine never tasted so good! This year we were in Chora but made a point of going for lunch and they remembered us, we also made the drive at night for dinner. The food is very traditional, moussaka, stifado, pasticcio and local fish. Great food and very friendly staff!

We visited Tassia's with very high expectations, after reading about its long history in Steni Vala in Michael Carroll's book, "An Island in Greece." I ordered the famous spaghetti with lobster, and it was delicious. Our salad was very good, with several different types of olives. We also ordered some of the pickled anchovies and calamari, which were good but we have had better elsewhere. My husband had the sardines, which were quite ordinary and relatively large. Generally, the smallest sardines are the tastiest, and great Greek restaurants pride themselves on choosing the smallest ones.

I was disappointed to see frozen items on the menu that are fresh elsewhere on the island. I also found the service to be quite indifferent for Alonissos. The restaurant had a more touristy feeling than I was expecting. I'm afraid it may have let its reputation go to its head, as sadly happens with many places.

Overall, I think there are other places on the island that serve superior food in a superior environment. I would go back for the spaghetti though. Even one portion is enough for two people with a salad or horta on the side.
