This was our second time to Skiathos and our first to Villa Apollon. We booked the hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews and we were not let down! The location is brilliant and the views are spectacular. Food really tasty and good value for money. Having the boat taxi to Skiathos Town a few minutes away was really handy. Achladies is a wonderful beach will good restaurants. We hired a boat for a day from the very helpful Achaldies Beach Sports. I can highly reccomend it and them. Spent many evenings in the bar at Villa Apollon, didn't find it clique at all and everybody was really friendly and sociable. The room was slightly small for the four of us but Dounia kindly offered us a bigger room but the view from our bedroom and being right next to the pool more than made up for the size of the room. The air conditioning was really good and the shutters kept the room dark which was handy for lie ins! Our boys loved the pool and hardly got out of it the first few days! Thank you Captain and Dounia for a wonderful holiday. Hope to be back one day!

Amazing view, great location, welcoming owners and fabulous food. Stayed here with our two children aged 3 & 4 and found this to be our most relaxing holiday so far. Villa Apollon has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, we could see why people return year after year. Ours days consisted of a relaxing breakfast with an amazing view, swim in the pool, pop to the beach (5mins away) and water taxi to town for dinner or a relaxing meal round the pool and sociable drinks with other guests.

We had a one bed apt and it was small however it had the most amazing view from a large balcony and we weren't bothered as we hardly spend any time in the room anyway.

Dounia and Captain were very sweet with our children and made us feel very welcome.

Considering we were on holiday with small children it proved to be very easy and relaxing. The water taxi is a lovely way to get to town and if the children got too tired on the way home to get the water taxi (and walk up the steps and hill to villa Apollon) we would just jump in a cab.

Found skiathos quite traditional with some stylish parts, some excellent restaurants (901 restaurant in town) and of course the food round the pool.

The beach is very family friendly and great safe swimming for little children, although the couple of tavernas on the beach weren't that great for food but were still ok.

Overall would recommend this for families .......in fact it is a lovely place to stay if you are a couple, family or travelling alone.

Thanks to Dounia and Captain for providing a lovely welcoming place to stay with all the right ingredients for a fabulous holiday.

I am not in the habit of writing reviews but enjoyed this holiday so much I feel I have to let people know how good Skiathos is and in particular what an excellent place Villa Apollon is to stay. Upon arrival we were met by Captain, he was very welcoming and his friendly, amenable manner immediately made us feel at ease. After helping us with our luggage and showing us to our rooms he invited us to the bar for a complimentary drink. After settling in our rooms we went to the bar for our drinks and spent a very enjoyable couple of hours being entertained by Captain, whilst at the bar we were joined by Captains wife, Dounia. Both Dounia and Captain are very friendly and it felt as though we were being welcomed to a family home rather than a villa run for business. Captain, real name 'Themistocles' - what a fantastic name! - has got a great personality, my wife thought that he was a right charmer - lol! Dounia is the perfect hostess, nothing is too much trouble for her. The rooms at Villa Apollon are typically greek and there are some comments on here about the rooms being small, but I say 'So What', they are clean and comfortable - you don't spend all day in them so the size shouldn't matter, if you're like us you won't be in them all day you'll be out enjoying the island and the fantastic weather. If you don't hire a car there is an excellent bus service, buses run every 15 to 20 minutes all day long so getting about the island is easy. Villa Apollon is located near to bus stop number 9 so access to the buses is easy; the bus route enables access to most beaches on the island, the only exception to this are the beaches on the north of the island where a car is a necessity. The island has great scenery and many fantastic beaches to visit, too many to list here, the best advice I can give is to call at the tourist advice office in Skiathos town or visit a website prior to travelling, What I will say is that I was surprised how green the island was considering how much sunshine it gets, though no doubt this was helped by the 4 days of rain we had at the start of our holiday (after this we had wall-to-wall sunshine). The island, although small, has loads to offer, great beaches, the cobbled streets of Skiathos town - be prepared to get lost, the streets are like a maze. We spent two weeks here but there is so much to see and do we only 'scratched the surface', we can't wait to return and continue exploring where we left-off. We met some lovely people whilst staying at Villa Apollon some first timers, like us and some that had returned many times, I hope we meet again! We really enjoyed our holiday in Skiathos and particularly Villa Apollon, thank-you Captain and Dounia for making us feel really welcome, not forgetting Jack and Donna for their friendly, happy, service - we will be back!

As soon as we arrived captain was there to help with the luggage and show us to our rooms, then told us to come up to the bar for our complimentary drink, the views from the pool and bar area were amazing we sat there for a while and his wife Dounia joined us they were both really friendly and filled us in on a few things about the area. You couldn't wish for a better place to stay, great bus and taxi service into Skiathos town which is full of great restaurants and bars particularly down the cobbled side streets which take some getting used too, be prepared to get lost a few times like we did. The beaches are wonderful and so easy to reach on the bus.We will definitely be going back, there's still a lot we didn't see and Villa Apollon will be my first choice if it's not booked up as it fills up very quick, I'd like to say a big thank-you to the other guests who were there at the same time as us it was nice meeting you all especially the royal couple on the balcony :)x and a really big thank-you to Captain and Dounia for making us feel so welcome:) x also Jack and Donna for doing a fantastic job serving us and keeping our rooms spotless xx

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view, but the ones near the pool would be nice if you can get them

Stayed here the last week of September - end of season and the whole island probably has a different feel at peak season. Villa Apollon was a great place to stay, typically Greek with very welcoming hosts. It feels more like being welcomed into a family home rather than an impersonal hotel. I thought that this was great and is no doubt the reason so many people come back time after time, but I can see that anyone expecting a 'hotel' atmosphere might be disappointed.
The rooms are functional rather than luxurious (if you are looking for a luxury hotel with all the trimmings there are several nearby). Everything worked fine - but 'typically Greek' is a phrase that anyone who has travelled much in Greece will understand!
The location is great - up above the beaches giving the most wonderful views from the pool and all of the rooms (but also giving a steep climb up from the beach - if you have difficulty walking it would not be the place to stay). It is very near to the bus stop - number 9 (there is only one tarmac road along the island so the bus stops are just numbered). There is a bus in each direction every 20 minutes. We were in a room near the road, but not really bothered by noise as there were few vehicles outside the beach 'rush hours' and no traffic at night.
The food is good, but portions much too large - however the expectation is that leftovers will be wrapped for lunch the next day. There are several nice Tavernas within easy walking distance. 'Captain' cooks a great barbecue - the fish is wonderful, but needs to be ordered a day in advance, and is very reasonably priced.
The staff were helpful - 'Jack' speaks little english or greek, but was always smiling, happy and very helpful. The cleaner 'Donna' is less enthusiastic and seems to like talking on her mobile phone, so the rooms were in the 'perfectly acceptable' rather than 'spotless' category.
Things to do:
1) Catch the bus to all the beaches (avoid the very crowded 4 o'clock rush off the beaches).
2) Catch the water taxi in Skiathos town (runs hourly, is only one euro more than the bus fare and such a nice way to travel).
3) Catch the bus (bus stop 23) then walk through the pine forests to the beaches on the Mandraki peninsular on the north of the island (about 20 minutes easy walk through cool woodland).
4) Use the dirt roads as hiking trails - there are so few cars using them that this is very pleasant walking.
5) We liked the Paradise taverna on the beach.
6) Walk around the Kanapitsa peninsular (bus stop 13).
7) Eat fish at the beach shack at Agistros beach (bus stop 23, walk north towards Mandraki then turn right.

Last tip - cash only, no cards. This is in the email that is sent after booking, but some idiots (like me!) don't read it.

Room Tip: Rooms lower down are nearer the road (such 11 and 12). There are three rooms onto the pool, but thes...

Absolutely loved it here. When we arrived was met by Captain (one of the owners) he was a very friendly man.He said when you are ready come up to the bar for a complimentary drink.
The rooms are typically Greek and basic but cleaned everyday towels and bedding was changed every few days. There is a safe in the room and air conditioning which were both free of charge not like a lot of places which charge you. They seem to have thought of everything here there's even a iron and ironing board. We went up to the bar for our complimentary drink and spent a lovely couple of hours talking to Captain and his lovely wife Dounia we couldn't have been made more welcome what lovely people. Then I tried Captains Bacardi and Coke they are the best ones I have ever tasted Thankyou Captain :) X. The pool area was lovely and overlooked the sea the sun beds where very comfy they give you beach towels to use here so you don't have to bring any from home. The 2 helpers what they have Jack and Donna work really hard to make your stay has enjoyable has possible. The food here is fantastic huge portions and they give you a big plate of fruit and yoghurt to finish which was free. The breakfasts were fantastic especially the Sunday one.We met some lovely people here some first timers like us and some what have been here loads of times they made our holiday special.Loved Skiathos and Villa Apollon we would not hesitate to come back here felt so chilled out Wish I was still back there. Thankyou Captain and Dounia for a fantastic holiday we will be back soon Xx

I stayed at the Villa Apollon, Skiathos from 8th September for one week. Despite having a fraught time with my travelling compaion, I enjoyed the accomodation, hospitality and met some wonderful people. I especially enjoyed the 'special' breakfast spread on Sunday. I will definitely stay here again when I next visit Skiathos.as I know Captain and Dounia will bend over backwards to provide a fantastic time for all.

Wonderful views, great food, and more to the point, a marvelous cold Mythos!
