Thank you Dounia and Captain, Jack and the team for another wonderful stay at Apollon!!
This is our 3rd trip to Skiathos and 2nd at Apollon. Last year we made friends with another family and arranged to overlap part of our holidays to be there together again. Plus I had raved on about it so much last year, that 2 other family groups joined us for part of the time too! They weren't disappointed!!
What can I say about Apollon - that hasn't already been said! It is a place were old friends meet and new friends are made. There are no cliques just an ever growing Apollon family. People can keep to themseleves or have chats and make friends - it's up to you. Personally, the difference from staying at the beautifully 'posh' Kassandra Bay in our 1st year and the clean and simple Apollon - is the heart and soul of Greece! Captain and Dounia share their Skiathos with you, hold your hand with restaurant, car and trip bookings, give magical advice and secret Captain remedies for any ailments that may occur and have informative and hilarious chats at the bar.The returning guests share their tips for where to go and where to eat, so you can really sample the best that Skiathos has to offer. It doesn't seem to matter what type of family you are - young children, teenage children, no children or single all seem to belong.
This year I booked in September for our return but couldn't get our favourite poolside room until the 2nd week, so Dounia sorted us all out in studios for the first week which were lovely, clean and all had the amazing Apollon view.
As ever the Apollon dinning experience has to be seen to be believed! My teenage daughter dreamt all year of having Captains spatchcock chicken again on our first night! The mixed grill is another favourite and this year we tried the fresh fish, lobster and langoustines which were incredible. A word of warning Captain doesn't do small portions - spatchcock chicken and mixed grill easily feeds 4 not 2 and Dounia s greek salad is the best on the island! Other favourite eating places are Alexandros which we visit at least twice every visit and Scuna, plus Sklitheri on the beach, the Monday Greek night at the beach side Paradise taverna mustn't be missed! If you fancy a boat trip - try the Argo with Gorges and his family - just find them in the harbour for a customised sail!
One evening dinning in this year we were entertained by an amazing lightning storm, everyone ran under cover and Jack and Dounia, like magic rearranged all tables under cover and we all shared the fabulous food together watching the scary lightning show.
I notice a couple of recent review say rooms are small and dark - having now experienced 6 of the rooms I couldn't disagree more! Rooms are typically Greek simple and clean and designed to stay cool. Why would anyone want to stay in when the most amazing view can be enjoyed from all terraces/balcony areas. Kitchens are well equipped should you need to cook in but most don't as whats on offer beats anything and is real value for money. Fab water-sports nearby.
My only sadness is that we are going to Australia next year so will have a year off from Apollon - role on 2016!
Many thanks to Dounia and Captain, missing you already! Jack keep up the good work! Black sambucca please!!
Lynda xxxx

We looked at all the reviews and agreed to give Villa Apollon a go but tried to check on arrival. The rooms by the pool are too small and dark to live in, unless you travel with a rucksack. To be fair, we booked for 2 adults and a teenager and the room therefore had too many beds for the size of room, in that there was too much furniture to a) cook and b) open the wardrobe c) open the suitcases. I think the fault lay primarily with the travel company, but the room was dark, dingy and the smallest I have been to on Skiathos. We have been there many times over the past 10 years and assumed this would have been on a similar level for the price we were charged for the accommodation. The owners were helpful but we had to vacate at the earliest.

Room Tip: Avoid the poolside rooms-you will find people there to greet you as you wake up!

This is our 12th visit to the unique Villa Apollon
I know everyone says it but there is a reason people return year on year and that speaks volumes in itself
Captain and Dounia are the best hosts and welcome you into their home and that is how you feel part of one big family, if you dont want to be part of that family that is fine also, you really can do exactly what you want , be included or just do your own thing
They are hand for anything you may need, booking restaurants, trips , advice on all things Skiathos
Air con and the safe are free, and if there is a problem with anything electrical Captain has an electrician on call but does his best at all times to fix things for you without question
You are not asked to pay for drinks and food everytime you order for your convenience, when you are by the pool you dont always want to carry money with you and it just makes things easier
The food...unbelievable, just the best value for money and quality on the island - fresh fish to order, beef staifado with mash & baby onions, the famous spatchccock, pork chops , greek salad to name just a few, Dounia would cook my daughter who is 5 anything she wanted whenever she wanted and she finished every last mouthful
Fab cocktails are a new addition this tear and you really must try Dounia's special Pimms mix
Fab location, minutes from the beach and bus stop 9,supermarkets and bakeries and a fanatastic way to get into town is the water taxi at Esperides hotel, 10 mins walk downhill
Few restaurants in town to recommend, Lo & La , Final Step, Marmita, Paraxenos, Marias, also a new one for this year we tried is is Skitheri which is a fish restaurant 5 mins taxi ride from the villa where we dined by candlelight on the beach
At Villa Apollon you get first class customer service and the unique and very special Captain and Dounia and their team exceed all expections year on year
They work extremely hard and deserve all the fantastic reviews they get
We meet friends and new friends every year and it just makes the Villa Apollon family so special
Breaks my heart everytime I leave each year but I know it wont be long to our return
Thank you again from the bottom of hearts for everything, your love , kindness and uniqueness, never change your perfect
The Pratts xx

Villa Apollon is a delightful place to stay, on the stunning Island of Skiathos.
The rooms are basic, but with very bright bedcovers and curtains that complimented the lovely flowers/ grass and the beautiful sea view beyond.
It was also a very pleasant surprise that air con, and the safe were free of charge.
We stayed in a ground floor apartment , I must admit the shower was snug, however we always had hot water so no problem, I believe the apartments by the pool have larger showers .

The apartments were very clean, and my husband and I really appreciated that the cleaning lady didn't disturb us once , like magic she seemed to know when to clean and not to disturb us , thank you!

On our first morning at the pool, I must have looked a bit worried about how many sun beds there were around the pool, however the lady next to me said don't worry about sun beds, there is always enough" and she was right, and I must admit very nice and comfy.

The pool area with the bar was lovely, and our hosts Captain and Dounia just couldn't do more to make us welcome.
In fact everyone was so friendly, lots of couples coming back year after year, which I can understand.

By the way thanks to Dave and Sue for the supplies we found outside our room the day you left!

The town of Skiathos is buzzing , loads of fabulous restaurants , we loved the seafood spaghetti in a restaurant opposite the harbor, were the water taxis came in......sorry can't remember the name.
Lo&la the Italian was nice, also the Porta Rossa which is not in the town, but just down the hill from the Apollan.
And of course the villa Apollan itself , our only regret is we didn't eat in house, the pizza looked amazing, but at least we have a good excuse to come back again .
Thank you Captain, Dounia, and all the lovely people we met at the Apollon.

Captain and Dounia gave us a warm welcome on arrival and they and their small staff do work tirelessly to keep their guests happy. The sea view from the pool is lovely - and the pool itself is very nice - perhaps not enough beds around the pool for the number of guests.
Room no 17 had a sea/ with partial road view. There was no privacy on the balcony from people drinking at the bar/ restaurant. I am a light sleeper and room 17 was at the the side of the bar and there was road noise til 3am. The room had broken air conditioning unit and I didn't sleep for two nights despite Captain's repeated efforts to fix it. He eventually got an engineer out to replace the whole unit which he admitted had actually been broken the previous week. It got fixed so that was good. This was my sixth visit to Skiathos and the rooms at Apollon were the smallest we have stayed in . The kitchen area has everything there- but realistically it's too small to cook in. Without going into detail the toilet was not great! We had problems getting a bill - we stayed four nights and ate two breakfasts but were charged for three. On a positive note - I injured my leg and Dounia and Captain couldn't have been be more helpful - giving me ice/ lending me a stick to help me. Also the young lad there works like a Trojan ! We decided to move to Kanapitsa Mare because it had easy access with lifts/no steps for the last few days - and I'm so glad we did. There were a lot of returning guests at Villa Apollon who seem very happy there and many knew each other from previous visits - but It's not for everyone .

I hope T A will allow me to to do this BEFORE we actually go to the Apollon!! In four weeks time we arrive at Skiathos for the FOURTH time but our first at the Apollon. My wife and I have been sitting in bed reading the latest reports and we now cannot wait to get on that plane. We are so looking forward to meeting the Captain and Dounia and whilst we are used to going into town or to the Platanias (Aghios Paraskevi) restaurant for our evening meal it looks from reports as if we may well eat at the Apollon svereal times as the food sounds fantastic. We were a little disappointed last year when we stayed at the Eleni a little up the road as the welcome was virtually non existent but we loved Achladias and are so pleased we found the Apollon. It is solely due to Trip Advisor that we chose the Apollon, the reports on T A speak volumes as to where one chooses to go. We are now salivating at the prospect of a great two week holiday which commences on 2 September. We shall no doubt be reporting back upon our return on T A. Lindsay and Sue, Southampton

Just come back from wonderful 2 weeks at villa apollon, skiathos. Upon arrival we (myself my husband and 15 year old son) greeted by the captain and Dounia and shown to our room, which was NO. 6 and we were very pleased. The room was fully equipped with the usual stuff including a toaster, 2 rings, kettle, microwave, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, double bed and single bed. The beds were all proper beds, not fold out beds and were very comfy. The room was more than large enough for our needs. The view from the room was amazing could see the sea, our room opened up to a large balcony which lead onto the pool area. There was a poolside bar were you could order breakfast and meals, food was fantastic! And good value for money! The 'cliques' that have been described in previous reviews were evident but this was due to the place being so good that the customers kept coming back and they were known personally to the captain and Dounia. We were not made to feel unconfortable by this or left out in anyway. The captain and Dounia Made as much a fuss to the people they had just met as they did with friends and repeat customers. They couldn't do enough for you to make your stay any more enjoyable. The team worked from early morning to last thing at night. We had the luxury of free air conditioning, wifi and a safe which was very much appreciated.  The loungers by the pool were so comfy and had a complimentary fresh towel placed on it every morning. The island is beautiful and easy to explore. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Villa Apollon and I would love to be able to make a return trip! Thank you the captain and Dounia!
