This year was my fourth visit to Villa Apollon and, as on all previous visits, it was glorious. My first visit 5 years ago was a surprise appearance on the honeymoon of my daughter Hannah and her husband Darryl - sounds mad but that's just the sort of family we are! And this year it was another surprise appearance (for Hannah at least), along with other family members and godparents, at their fifth anniversary blessing.

Captain and Dounia, whom Darryl has known for about 12 years, played a huge part in the success of this event - arranging the blessing at the beautiful Evangelistria monastery and preparing the most delicious feast in the evening as well as keeping the secret for nearly a year.

Villa Apollon continues to have renovations to what was already marvellous and this year the pool and surrounding terrace have been upgraded and there are lovely comfortable sunbeds with fresh towels every morning. The rooms overlooking the pool are delightful and now have air conditioning although my preference is still to sleep with the doors open with lovely mediterranean breezes wafting in. And, although there is usually lots of conversation and sociable times around the bar, if you want to take a quiet moment and gaze at the view across Achladies bay you will feel restored.

The food prepared by Captain and Dounia is still amazing (and enormous!) and there were some new dishes this year including the king prawn on black rice - oh yeah! And Captain is still preparing the delicious antibiotics and, although there are many lovely place to eat on the island, the food and drink and hospitality at Villa Apollon are outstanding. You are always welcomed as a friend and it makes you feel truly cherished.

I love this place - it feels like my Greek home and Captain and Dounia feel like my Greek family - the highest praise I can give. May Villa Apollon continue to prosper and be filled with happy visitors for many yeears to come.

After ariving yet again to this beautiful island we were all met with smiles and hugs from Dunia and Captain, the hosts of the Villa Apollon. From the moment the cases were unpacked we were ready for the hospitality these people offer when visting this beautifly located property on this sun drenched island. You can never get tired of the stunning views from your room or at the poolside.Relaxing by the poolside offers a great deal of real Greek life drinks and fantastic food not only during the day but into the evenings with the famous steaks, pork chops, and fresh fish all cooked to perfection on the grill by the Captain. Many people return to this place year in year out as we do and come away with wonderful memories of nights meeting new people who become freinds in such a short time of your stay .Resturants on the island are plentyful and finding new ones to vist after being to Skiathos for many years is not hard to do, 1901 ,Skilthri, Infinity Blue, to name but a few.We will definitley return to this wonderful island and to these wonderful people to enjoy yet another fantastic holiday!!!

Once again, I enjoyed, with my husband, a super two weeks holiday at Villa Apollon with the owners (now our friends) Dounia and Captain.
Welcomed with open arms as part of the family, we stayed in the “Mansion” Apartment No. 5. We have been visiting them for our holidays since 1995 and have always thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of Villa Apollon.
Over the years the facilities available have vastly improved from the rustic set-up we found on our first visit.
I would like to point out that this is not “a hotel”, but self-catering apartments.
A small range of bar meals is available; Dounia and Captain are very happy to assist with any requests and have been known to pop into Skiathos Town to obtain Fish, Steaks or Pork Chops. FANTASTIC. Thank you very much to our Skiathos Family. XXX

Clean simple rooms. Great pool with views to die for. But the hospitality of Captain and Dounia, together with their food and simple joie de vivre raise the Villa Apollon to a different category. Easy to walk down to the beach and catch the ferry into Skiathos town - even easier to chill out right here!

We decided to return to the Apollon to meet up with some friends we met there 2 years ago, and also to remind ourselves what a wonderful and unique place it was.

On arrival, we were greeted like long lost friends by Dounia and Captain who really are incredible hosts. When you come to the Apollon, you have all the ingredients for a tremendous holiday:

- the view from the pool, and our balcony - unequalled in Skiathos, I would go as far to say.
- the friendly hosts and family feel of the place
- times around the bar, friends old and new
- Captain's barbecue
- Captain's stories!
- the other guests - because the Apollon is not affiliated to a travel company, people come from across Europe (while we were there, we met Romanians, Italians, English and Greeks)
- the book library

This year, the pool area is brand new. It looks fantastic and there is a pool cover which come over at night to avert any drunken dangers. The downstairs apartments by the pool also appear to have been upgraded (the 2 bed apartment by the pool looks phenomenal with it's 5* decor and walk in shower).

Our 2 bed apartment upstairs commanded a superb view over Achladies bay. It's huge! It doesn't have 5 star facilities but hey, this is Greece. Great big comfy bed, air conditioning, plenty of floor space. One thing which I constantly battled with was the 'shower curtain of doom' which wrapped itself around me shroud-like each time I showered. Not a massive shower area, but it did provide some amusement!

On the whole, we had a great holiday. Skiathos is beautiful and I am still convinced the Apollon is THE place to stay. We caught up with friends we met here 2 years ago and the fortnight went way too quickly.

Just back from a week in Villa Apollon and it was definitely was not long enough. Captain and Dounia are so welcoming, friendly and kind, there is a lovely atmosphere about the place. Food is fantastic. We went to a couple of tavernas in town but the best food we had all week was the fish Captain cooked for us on the last night, he also does a mean Greek salad. Apart from the food being fantastic the rooms were immaculately clean and the beds extremely comfortable, infact I've already booked two weeks for next year.

We have just arrived back from a week's stay at the Villa Apollon in Skiathos.
Fantastic!! After an arduous 15 minute journey from the Island's Airport by taxi, we were greeted by our host Dounia and Captain together with a very welcome drink.
Having spent the last 25 years holidaying on various Greek Islands, this was by far the most pleasant start to our holiday that we have ever received.
The studio we stayed in was very nice, it had a small kitchen area, a bathroom which if I’m honest could have done with been a little larger, and a bedroom which held the most comfortable double bed in the whole of Greece, together with TV and free air conditioning. The balcony had a wonderful view overlooking the clear blue waters of Achlaides Bay which at night with a warm breeze and silver moon takes on a very romantic atmosphere.
The location of Villa Apollon is by bus stop number 9 which makes it very easy getting transport in or out of town. The cost of the local bus is €1.40 per person for a one way trip and a taxi fare around €7 total.
There is also a water taxi from Achlaides beach for €2.50.
Dounia and Captain are fantastic hosts and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We ate at the villa Apollon a couple of evenings and found the food excellent. You must try the Captains steaks they just melt in your mouth. Skiathos town is a fascinating place with a maze of tiny cobbled streets. The number of shops and tavernas which it holds is truly amazing and it is great fun trying to find again the place you ate the night before.
All in all our holiday in Skiathos was brilliant and I believe this was due to our location in the Villa Apollon with its wonderful hosts Captain and Dounia. Without doubt I can highly recommend the villa Apollon and all that goes with it. We will certainly go back.
