Generally I am not very pretentious about hotels. However this hotel in Larissa is among the worst I've ever stayed. The room was very basic (a bed, a chair and a desk). It's also very hot and the a/c has not workes properly. The bathroom needed refurbished. There was no free WiFi even if it was mentioned. If you need internet connection you have to pay for it.
Saved by the free parking, the helpful stuff and the location, but it's not a 3-star hotel. Next time I'll choose another hotel to stay!

2 -3 Star , 4/10 (9/10 for Service).
Polite very friendly and helpful English speaking staff. Can't fault the service; carried our bags , collected and parked our car for us , recommended somewhere to eat. But the Hotel was past it's prime 20 years ago. It has free parking and Buffet breakfast. It is centrally located , has A/C and free Wi-Fi. But no Restraunt or Room service , or even Tea / Coffee Facilities on Site. No minibar but it does have a small fridge. You can park but as the surrounding streets have been turned into a pedestrian Mall you will need to drive 600 meters through a walkway (Ask them to do it if you can). The shower is in the Bathtub but the curtain is to small to keep the shower dry and no extractor fan. Double bed only and a single flat pillow only.

Room Tip: It's cheap, central and has great staff. If you need good amenities go elsewhere. Sorry.

The hotel is very centrally (and thus conveniently) located. It also offers free underground parking which is very helpful. However, the hotel is very aged and in my view does not meet the standards of a 3-star hotel. My bed was the hardest I've slept on, which made my 2-night stay a real challenge. Breakfast was also less than basic with extremely small variety. All in all, I wouldn't choose Metropol Hotel if I ever stay in Larissa again.

Location: right in the centre of the city next to the main square, in the lively pedestrian area with restaurants and shops.

Arriving by car, it's good to know where to take the short part of the pedestrian street(s) to get into the private garage of the hotel.

This is a "budget" accommodation mentioned in the Lonely Planet travel guide.
The receptionist, Mr Alexander was very helpful.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed is about 1m90 and the mattress on a wooden support (for a heavy person maybe a bit hard). The floor is wall to wall carpeted (hygiene ??). There is A/C warm & cold. My room had a balcony with street view (most of the rooms have a kind of an inner court view). The bathroom seemed to have been refurbished and has bath/shower & toilet and a hairdryer. Wifi in the rooms. Some rooms are interconnecting.
There is a small fridge and a small old TV.

During "off" season (November) we paid 45 Euro for a single room inclusive of breakfast, parking and wifi. Dog friendly hotel.
For it's category this is a property I gladly recommend!

Room Tip: Rooms above the street have a better view.

Metropol Hotel provides comfortable accommodation in a good location, close to the main squares and restaurants and within walking distance of the Ancient Theatre and the bus station.
Staff are friendly and helpful. The manager speaks good English.
Rooms are clean and comfortably furnished. Double glazing shuts out the street noise in the evenings (when many people are out walking and dining). I had no problems sleeping.
Breakfast is an ample buffet.
There are many options to eat out nearby, including an excellent souvlaki bar across the road.
My only criticism is that the hotel does not provide free WiFi. It is within a Boingo hotspot (subscription service) or alternatively there is a cyber café around the corner.
I would be happy to stay here again.

The location of the hotel is really convenient. It is in the city center with many beautiful shops and great traditional restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and polite, always willing to help and service you. However, the hotel itself is in an extremely poor condition. It is an old hotel and it shows. The rooms are VERY VERY dirty. The carpet on the floor and the furniture are older than me and the moment you enter the room a terrible smell is permiated. The blankets on the beds seem dirty and worn out and the sheets and the pillows smell bad. The bathroom had a terrible smell as well and the shower curtain had a disgusting yellowish color due to dirt. The air-conditioning unit in my room was out of order but I could not leave the window open because I saw a cocroach strolling outside.
However, the coffee was great and they offerred freshly sqeezed juice!
