Very good value for money, right in the city center, with all the shops and cafeterias near by. And very good access to the city's port. It is very quiet too even if it has a main road infront and busy streets.

Negative aspects:
1)noisy. Facing a lively street, but without good acustic isolation.
2)dirty. Stains everywhere (on the floor, on the table...). The poor condition of almost every piece of furniture, and of evert element of the bathroom probably prevents from cleaning properly.
3)Very uncomfortable mattresses.
4)unsafe. Balcony door can be open from the exterior. The balcony is in common among many rooms, and the separation glass does not prevent neighbors from peeping (and from passing into your balcony).
5) too expensive, given the previous points.
positive aspects:
1) the position: close to the port and in the city center;
2) the kindness and availability of the personnel.

Room Tip: As always in Grece, ask to see the room before agreeing to stay. In Grece the entrance of the hotel...

I needed to get to Volos in order to catch my flight back home. I was looking for some cheap accomodation and ended up booking Nefeli Hotel, which had a good location from and to the bus station and decent rates. I booked a single room last minute and got it for 45€/ night, including breakfast.

I got in late at night and had my flight the next morning so I didn't have much time to check out the hotel, all I needed was a place to sleep for the night.

From Volos bus station it was a short 10' taxi ride but you could also either catch a bus or walk as it's not that far. I called the hotel before arriving in order to know how much I should expect to be paying for the taxi ride as I was a bit afraid to get ripped off by the driver. I ended up paying the right price - 5€, which I thought was ok.

The hotel was easy to find and had a good location close to a main street with shops of all kinds, banks and a bus stop around the corner.

The reception looked nice and the staff was welcoming and spoke good english. They have 24h reception and wifi access (which I didn't try since I didn't have a laptop with me).

I got a big, clean 2 bedded room with a little bathroom, a little balcony and a tv. The bathroom looked a bit old but it was quite clean so I couldn't complain. The only problem is that it got cold at night, as the temperature had been dropping down the previous day and I didn't check if the heating could be turned on or not. As for the breakfast, it was included - basic but fine (eggs, cakes, bread, cereals, juice).

Not the best i have visited. Breakfast was poor. If you only want to sleep in a bed this hotel is good. Don't expect to many things. Mediocre hotel to stay daily.

PRICE. Best of all, the hotel was half the price of the others we called, but had the amenities of a hair dryer, mini-bar, shampoos, etc. It was a pleasant surprise that they discarded the old soaps/shampoos and put out fresh each day.
STAFF. Desk staff was friendly and accomodating; they said the hotel was renovated 4-5 years ago.
ROOM. Our room was clean and pleasant. Double glazed windows and quite quiet. (Although the inside insulation wasn't very good re: neighbours. Luckily ours were quiet.) Note that the rooms with a double bed face ONLY the busy front street, so go for a quieter room with 2 twin beds on the side street. Unusually hot water for a hotel, but if it blocks up and stops working (from high use at the same moment, e.g. at Easter), tell the staff right away and they'll unblock the system.
BREAKFAST. Cold buffet generous, as well as a hot plate of scrambled eggs with bits of bacon.
LOCATION. Perfect spot, 2 blocks from seafront, where the cafes/restaurants are located.
PARKING. If you're lucky, for unloading/loading, you might find a spot right in front of hotel - it's the hotel's, but they sometimes let guests park there, so it might be taken. A small parking lot is also provided a couple of blocks away off a very narrow side road; we were concerned about getting blocked in, and chose to look on side streets. Twice we found a spot near the church, around the back. But, like many Greek towns, parking's difficult, because it's in the 'downtown' area; and being near the seafront made the area even more in demand.

Room Tip: 4 extra quiet, ask for a high room on the side str
