This bridge is quite spectacular with it's giant sized beams and ropes, leading to the poles holding it all up (see pics).
The views are equally wonderful, with the meeting of 2 different water bodies and frequent sightings of cruise ships coming towards the bridge, then once they go underneath you realise just how high up you actually are.
There is an island in the middle which has a long history, originally a stop for pirates and then eventually women who serviced them, shops, drinking locales and the type of debauchery you expect that go hand in hand with pirates! Hundreds of years later that was all gone and a home for girls who became pregnant out of wedlock, or who were known to be promiscuous existed, then it became the keeper's home. Now the island has little on it, nobody visits exept for those taking a detour from the bridge for a break. It tends to be used for livestock now.
