“Small cosy and budget Hotel”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

Budget Hotel with small but cosy rooms.
Fast internet and great breakfast.
Near to train station so it is extremely convenient to walk to catch a train.
However, there are occasional noise from the road and train station at night.
Bed to not very comfortable.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our trek through Denmark and had chosen it mostly based on price. We chose a 'Captain's room' which was pretty spacious (particularly compared to the standard rooms) but still reasonable. It had all the required bits - tv, tea/coffee making facilities, adequate bathroom. The room was clean and the beds were comfy enough.

Our room overlooked the bus station but we weren't kept awake and didn't hear any noise.

Breakfast upstairs on the top floor was fine with a big enough selection and a great view to enjoy while you ate. There was a real mix of people at breakfast, showing the diverse crowd that this hotel attracts.

We did take a car with us and had (thankfully) heeded the reviews about tight parking conditions so only rented a small one for this reason. The entrance to the car park looks like a pedestrian path and isn't much wider and you can tell how tight the turn is at the bottom as they've put carpet around the edges to minimise the damage if (when) you bump. The bonus once you're in is that, being so centrally located, you can park your car and leave it until you're ready to check out as you won't need it to get around Odense.

Overall, good stay and we'd come back if we were in the area.

I stayed here with my husband for a night in November. If you like unique lodgings, and don't require tons of space, it's quite a good value. I was amused by its resemblance to overnight train compartments.

Pluses:
1) Very inexpensive for Denmark
2) Lovely breakfast room on the top floor with great views
3) Very friendly staff
4) Excellent location next door to the train station, and in front of the bus stops
5) Walkable to Old Town Odense
6) Tasty, filling breakfast
7) Very clean & tidy
8) Surprisingly warm, strong shower
9) Rooms are cozy in an overnight train compartment way :)
10) Free tea & coffee in the rooms (with an electric hot water pot)
11) Nice flat screen TVs in the rooms
12) All linen included (and matching, everything is a sea-green)
13) Very quiet. We got a great night's sleep.

Minuses:
1) This is not for big luggage packers, or fat people, or people who expect tons of room.
2) Top bunk is perilously close to the ceiling- I cracked my head more than once.
3) Breakfast is a bit overpriced, but it's Denmark, so everything is, right?

I actually recommend this more highly than the Hosteling International next door. It's a better value.

Hotel located right next to train station and an easy walk to central part of town. Rooms quite small but comfortable and clean. Newer hotel with a modern feel to it. Never had a problem with noise coming into the room from train station. There is a car park under the hotel, but its a tight squeeze getting down the ramp and parking the car. Surcharge added for parking. If looking for a room for a night or two without any frills, this is place to stay.

The hotel is located near to the train station. The rooms are very small but clean. The hotel staff were very helpful, breakfast was cereal yogurt and meats. Overall a cheap hotel which is fine for a short stay.

I stayed here twice, both times for about 12 hours. Late arrival and left before breakfast. I got a quick check-in, friendly, a good joke or two about the "Local Evening Crazies" who wander in negotiating for a cheap room, free bathroom, or a ticket to Saturn on the Weirdo sub terranean express.
The room is clean, a bit "hospital"esque, with strong hot shower, and good internet, with a TV with enough English channels to not feel mentally abused.

In general, It's typical of modern scandinavia, for better or for worse. Let's say it's like an average sandwich, with a complete void of imagination.

Make sure to ask them for an extra pillow and a room with a bed that is wider than a pack of cigarettes. Oh, and have fun brushing your teeth with the shower curtain kissing your elbows.

If you bring your "significant other" here, prepare to feel like you have a patient behind the curtain, and then prepare to go to a real hospital because you should be beaten for your lack of imagination in choosing this place.

Room Tip: Ask for an extra pillow, and see if you can get a room with a beg wider than a pack of cigarettes.

And the parking in the garage is NOT free, and its clearly says so on their webpage, so its not ok to review the hotel and make a bad comment on "nobody told med....", I can see there is a review where one claims that this came as a surprice.
But the hotel is almost new, located next to the railway station, but with noise reduction windows. The rooms are small, some very small, but if you upgrade to the captains class you´ll get a nice size room. Still on the small side, but ok.
Remeber to bring earplugs....the room inside is not noise proff, and you can hear people in the hall and so on.
Breakfast is ok, bread, yogurt, cereal, salami, cheese, fruit and so on. Its extra, 70kroner.
Location is central in Odense, and the only trains you can hear in the hotel are cargotrains, going through Odense, all others, you dont notice.
So all in all, a nice new hotel, central location, at a god price. So compared to the price, its good.

Room Tip: choose captains class
