“Average hotel with some issues”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

We stayed here two nights and were not particularly impressed with the hotel. We stayed in a family room with a loft space, with emphasis on the loft part. There was a very steep ladder up to a hole in the ceiling to a cramped space with two mattresses on the floor. Not a place where you would be comfortable sending young children alone.

The rooms are old, worn and could definitely use a proper scrubbing. Especially the bathroom was in much need of a proper cleaning.

What little was available at breakfast was decent, but with such a limited buffet it was quite a disappointment.

Staff was friendly, but that's not enough for us to stay at this hotel again.

I stayed 2 nights here because the city centre Radisson was full and I fancied somewhere away from the centre. The hotel is a wonderful building set around a courtyard type area with plenty of secure and free car parking. The reception staff are polite, courteous and efficient and the check in process was all concluded in a few minutes - perfect after a long journey. Into the room, one word, average. Nothing to make you think wow, fairly tired looking furniture and average bed and bathroom. I'm sure the restaurant is highly rated, but if you're looking for something simple to eat then you're in the wrong place. Very limited menu but what they do cook is actually quite good, if you don't mind being restricted to veal, quail or fish - definitely no burger and fries in front of the TV. Will I stay there on next trip to Aalborg? Undecided, but worthy of consideration.

As the title indicates, the room was functional, small, dull, and the beds were tiny and not comfortable. The rooms had no mod cons and the bathroom and shower was tiny with a shower curtain - which I hate - as they stick to you - not hygienic and not a pleasant experience but one to be indured. I was expecting so much more in terms of standards and was disappointed.

We ate at the restaurant on the first night and enjoyed a lovely, relaxed, unhurried meal with attentive service and the food was fab. The price was in line with the service. The choice at breakfast was wide but we had to wait for new platters to be delivered as they weren't replaced quickly enough when emptied from other diners, so on the first day we left without eating due to the delays. The staff looked too busy for the amount of people to be catered for.

The staff, throughout our stay were polite and efficient. There was no point moaning about our room as I knew the hotel was fully booked, so we endured. But if the hotel reads tripadvisor posts, please take note, and please update the lower end rooms as I know that other people paid the same price and had lovely rooms and bathrooms.

This hotel has a nice atmosphere with a honeyball touch and a nice park. We were upgraded to a suite - a big room with a big bathroom. We could bring our dog and we paid only DKK 100 for this service. The rooms are standard furnished a little outdated but OK. I prefer this type of hotel with a little more "personality" and the old buildings.

We liked the spacious rooms and valued the in-room-coffeemaker (not a common feature in Scandinavia). Quiet surroundings and lots of breakfast options. Though the hotel was very busy members of staff in reception and restaurant were forthcoming and friendly.

First niggle was that you have to check-in in one building and then walk to your room which was not good as it poured with rain when we were there. No umbrellas available to borrow either.
The room was very plain and small, but fairly clean. Not spotless as I would have expected.
Parking was difficult as not enough spaces within the complex. More spaces were available outside and we ended up parking there till a space became available near our room.
However the restaurant was special and the service there impeccable.
Breakfast was not up to the same standard as dinner though.
We stayed only one night on our trip from London to Gothenburg and if we make that trip again we will probably stay here then too as it is well located for the boat from Fredrikshavn to Sweden.

Stayed for 3 nights - 3 adults and 2 children - in August. The hotel is an old manor house and is well located in spacious grounds, lots of room for kids to charge about outside. Bed rooms are functional and plain but clean, comfortable and of reasonable size. No fridge or air-con but all rooms now have excellent wi-fi - there is also a small indoor swimming pool. Restaurant is good and includes an outside terrace area and bar. Meals are of a good standard and well presented.
Friendly reception with complimentary fruit available, which is a nice touch.
Hotel is well suited to those having their own car transport as easy to access and has a large car park. Also good for those with mobility issues as there are lots of ground floor rooms.
Staff are welcoming and friendly. Hotel is also a popular wedding venue due to spacious grounds and garden.Oh and there is a huge Danish flag, with very serious raising and lowering arrangements, in the rear garden.
Overall this is a good hotel for people of all ages - as on the outskirts of Aalborg its less convenient for those needing a city centre venue but excellent for those with their own transport and needing a good base. The excellent Aalborg zoo is close by.
