I stayed three nights here for work and I was looking forward to leaving. This is a hotel for sleeping in, not spending any more time there than you have to. The best thing is the location, right beside the cathedral in the cobbled main square of this lovely university town, with it's restored canal and huge choice of bars and restaurants. The strap line is "Sleep Cheap in Luxury". I wasn't paying, but I guess cheap is the one bit that's correct. Certainly not luxury! The corridors and rooms make you feel you are on board ship, like sleeping in a pod, with your en suite facility a 'pod within a pod'. The single beds are narrow. There is a desk and free wifi, everything works OK and the continental breakfast is acceptable. The cost is about £50 a night, breakfast £7. I'd say plenty of basic hotel chains provide a better experience for the money, but perhaps not in such prime locations.

I stayed in this hotels for nights, located in prime location close to cathedral, shops, good restaurant but above all walking distance to the bus and rail station that made connection to other cities easier and convenient. However the economy rooms were too small and the single beds were too small. I would recommend everyone to stay here. If you staying in winter go the upper floors that are more warmer.

Room Tip: If you staying in winter go the upper floors that are more warmer.

Excellent location - in the middle of everything. Nice modern architecture. Lots of daylight in the house - specially in the breakfastroom. Very nice staff and good service. Economy rooms small and basic - but sufficient if you only need to sleep there. TV, el kettle, coffee and tea bags, shampoo and soap are provided - towels likevise. My room was guiet and I slept very well all night. Only the showerarrangement is a bit problematic - tophanged shower head do not give you water in the "corners" of your body - but makes sure your hair gets wet! Shower curtain smells a bit sour and fusty because there is no space to let it hang to dry unfolded (othervise everything is nice and clean). Water faucet is difficult to adjust - too little or too much. The breakfast is fresh and good with a fair choise of food. I recommand it if you do not want to spent a fortune on hotels.

Room Tip: My room was facing north (nice wiew of The church of St. Clement). It was quiet.

I stayed in this hotel in late August '13 for nine nights. The location is excellent, a few meters from the river with cafes and pubs (I guess most of Aarhus' nightlife is here). The economy room is very small. In particular, the bed is narrow (i'm 185 cm tall and slim) and the mattress too soft, so sleeping was not very comfortable. Both the bathroom and the wardrobe are small, so I would recommend a larger room if you plan to stay more than a couple of days. Breakfast was fine, with very good teas and several tasty types of bread to spread with butter and jams. Most employees are friendly, in particular a guy with light brown hair - extremely professional, when he apologized and worried about my eyedrops that were lost during room cleaning and offered to refund for the cost of a new bottle.

Room Tip: Skip the economy room, unless you're really willing to save money.

Stayed one night on a monday as i had to attend classes at the uni. Out of the nine hrs i stayed in bed i slept only one. First i was kept awake by the very loud voices that are magnified by the long cannal street, it was a special party week but still it was only one group of people that sat by the cannal. So it doesnt take much. Then the seagulls took over and had a loud party untill i had to get up. No way of getting away from the noise... But its clean, good service and great location.

Located in center of Aarhus life, just a few steps to IN locations in the city.
Single rooms are very small and look like they haven seen a refresh since the 80ies.
No aircondition and opening the window wasn't really an option since the seagulls would wake you up too early

My family stayed here in late June. The room was as advertised, very small. But clean. Quite expensive for the size, but this is Scandinavia so you should expect this. We have traveled a lot and are quite careful with our stuff. The reception has a baggage room for keeping luggage. We went for a walk the morning of our departure and left a few bags in there thinking our car might be more at risk of a break in outside.

The room door has a sticker showing it has a surveillance camera. That's good, but our guard should have gone up since it was not directly within sight of the reception person, employees can cross through the room using 2 other doors (although they need key cards), and it's unlocked. We kept our most valuable stuff with us, but two guys must have been scoping the reception area out. They went in there while we left. They were caught on the camera rifling through our stuff and then grabbed one small bag and left when staff came through, so they didn't have much time to check stuff (with unlocked zippers). They took some random stuff and we were able to replace it, but it of course was a huge stress, cost, and time waster (had to walk to the police to file a report for insurance...) as it took time for the management to check the camera tape and confirm the theft. At first they did not seem to show us too much sympathy, but once they saw the guys on tape, they shared our shock and walked us to the police, etc.

Yes, it is always a risk to put your baggage in a baggage room, and we could have locked our bags better, like every zipper... And we understand the hotel had a disclaimer posted that they aren't responsible for theft, and this was a very random incident, but inevitably they will lose the trust of some customers with reviews like this, and may lose business if they can't have a secure location for baggage which many travelers use when concerned about their car's location or have no car.

It shouldn't be that difficult to improve either. We suggested that the hotel put a lock on the door and have the reception walk people to the room. That should be simple enough to deter thieves from casing out their hotel and seeing how easy it is to walk in when no one is looking, despite knowing they are being videotaped. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to keep the cleaning crew from using the room as a thoroughfare, but they know they're on camera and they use keycards, so that's secure enough in my opinion.

So use this hotel's (and any one's!) baggage room with our story in mind. It would be very unlikely this hotel will be hit again, but hopefully they will improve their baggage room security as soon as possible so it doesn't. You might want to ask them about improvements, or just take the gamble.
