Cafe Amsterdam (actually a restaurant, not a cafe) has good food at reasonable prices. The service is friendly and fairly efficient. If I just want a meal, Cafe Amsterdam is an acceptable choice and convenient to the Royal Theatre for a bite to eat before curtain time. But if I really want a culinary experience, I'd go elsewhere. Let's face it, Dutch food is pretty tame - sauerkraut, sausages, various pork dishes, mussels, and such. As I live in Copenhagen, I've enjoyed the Cafe Amsterdam on several occasions. But if I was just visiting the city, I'd go down the street to Nyhavn and look for something with a little more local color. And I'd be drinking the local Carlsberg beer, not imported Heineken :)
