We were in copenhagen in June and were looking for a place for dinner. The Hereford Beefstouw (a chain restaurant) charges over 300 DKK (60 USD) for a filet steak - salad bar is 70DKK extra. Other restaurants in the Nyhavn (tourist) area are not much better - one place asked 190 DKK for a caesar's salad. We walked a couple of blocks and found the Cafe Amsterdam with an interesting menu and very reasonable price - a three course dinner for 299 DKK.
For starters I had Foie gras tureen with port stock and my wife had mussels steamed with smoke salmon in white wine (they also serve mussels as a main course at 159 DKK), both good portions and delicious. We had tournedos (a filet steak) with mushrooms and crème sauce as well as back of lamb marinated with rosemary and served with sky sauce for our main courses. They were both excellent cuts of meat and done just right. For desserts I had mousse au chocolat with a hint of cointreau and my wife pecorino cheese with fig and honey.
Their wine list is relatively short but looks like good selections. However, if you are a beer lover you have hit the jackpot - they have a list of 22 beers including some of the best from Belgium.
If you want good food for dinner, this is likely the best for value in Copenhagen.
