“Very nice boutique hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed a short stay at the Nimb after a Baltic cruise on the Seabourn Sojourn. It is a small hotel, maybe only a dozen rooms. When you drive up it is not very impressive and the lobby is quite small. Our room, however, was another story. It was a lovely room that overlooked Tivoli Gardens. Most of the rooms, including ours, do not have air conditioning. It was a bit warm during the day but comfortable enough at night. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very nice. We also enjoyed drinks in the bar. While I enjoyed our stay, I would probably try the D'Angleterre when I next return to Copenhagen.

We went to Copenhagen for the weekend (to see a friend open (and triumph) as Bess in the Royal Opera's Porgy and Bess) and stayed at Nimb - principally because we had read that Nimb was the place to go for Sunday brunch. We were not disappointed.

Nimb is a boutique hotel, with only 17 rooms, most of which are suites. It is oposite the main railway station, and occupies an ornate building that forms part of the perimeter of the Tivoli pleasure gardens.

We stayed in one of the three new suites (15-17), that have private terraces looking out onto the gardens. The bed, bathroom and separate wc were on an upper level. The couch and desk were on the lower level, behind floor to ceiling picture windows looking out to Tivoli, and with french doors leading out onto the private terrace. The terrace was equipped with chairs, a table, and a candle lantern - which would have been perfect for a romantic evening, had it not been for the cold. In the morning, the peacocks from Tivoli came pecking at our door, to wake us in time to see the marching band practising for the coming Tivoli season,

The room was equipped to a very high standard, with excellent furniture and decorations, modern lighting and electronics, and B&O televisions and sound system - everything that one might expect in a 5-star hotel.

The staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful, and - because it is a small hotel - had time to talk. On the Saturday morning, they cheerfully and efficiently organised a delivery of flowers to the star's dressing room at the Opera and an excellent private English-speaking guide to take us on a walking tour of the city that same afternoon, and pointed us in the direction of Rio Bravo (only a short walk away, on the other side of Tivoli) for a post-opera, after-midnight meal.

Nimb itself has a brasserie (where we ate breakfast), a grill, and a wine bar. It also has the Nimb Bar, which occupies what (we imagine) must have been the ballroom of the house. That is where the famous Nimb Sunday brunch is served. There is an open fire, and well-spaced-out tables topped with brass trays and surrounded by armchairs and sofas. The staff were (again) very friendly and efficient, and the cocktails on the list were interesting. We can highly recommend the Catz Monkey (Monkey 47 gin, goosberries and champagne), and the New York Sour (the traditional bourbon, lemon, sugar, egg white, plus some highly untraditional red wine). Taken in moderation, both make excellent attitude adjusters.

We were sad to leave to catch our plane on Sunday afternoon.

We travelled in winter, when Tivoli was not open. The hotel was therefore quiet, and a great (albeit not a cheap) place to relax. In summer, the buzz from Tivoli would probably make the hotel less tranquil: and there are weekend rock concerts in Tivoli during the season, which would probably be clearly audible from the hotel.

However, the fact that Nimb provides a luxurious ringside seat (and free entrance) for all that Tivoli has to offer in season could well prove ample compensation for any disturbance of the peace.

OurOur third stay at Nimb Hotel.
Staff is great with very high service standards. As it is a very small hotel with only 17 room it feels very intimate and “homey”.
They were able to secure a table at the hugely popular and always fully booked “Pastry days at Nimb Terrasse” within an hour from our arrival.
We had room-service breakfast (continental) which was excellent – large selection of cheeses and cold cuts – high quality.
We were upgraded from a Deluxe Room to a Junior Suite which was very nice.
Not sure I would book a Junior Suite taking the price difference compared to a Deluxe room into consideration.
The rooms are quite expensive but the level of quality and service matches the price.
We have stayed at several other “five-star” hotels in Copenhagen including Hilton, Marriott and Radisson Blu Royal. If the price is not the key object I would recommend Nimb – we find it far better. And among the best hotels we have stayed in world wide.

We stayed at the Nimb hotel for 2 nights in August 2013 and had a wonderful time there.
The view on the park is fantastic, the service is really excellent and the rooms are gorgeous. Just be aware that the peacocks of the park may wake you up early in the summertime!
We definitely recommend this hotel; even though the prices are high, it's definitely worth it!

The Nimb is a really unique hotel, as it's actually part of the buildings backing onto Tivoli gardens. At night it's lit up like a fantasy palace and you feel like you are really part of Tivoli, even though it wasn't open when we were there - must be ultra-fantastic in the summer! It has history too - the bar is a really lovely open room dating back to the early 1900's with an open fire and great service. Our room was smallish but wonderfully finished-off and the bathroom was sublime. There was a fireplace in our room and one night we just stayed there with a bottle of wine - too nice to leave! The staff were wonderful, discreet but there when you needed them, and we never set eyes on any room service staff although our room was always meticulously cleaned whenever we came back. We ate one night in the brasserie and had a lovely meal, although the staff seemed run off their feet it didn't affect our evening and the food was great. It is an expensive hotel, but feels like a little oasis of luxury and is worth every penny! The only picky things I could say were that there should be a minibar and coffee maker in the bedrooms, but only because you want to spend as much time in them! A wonderful, unique hotel.

We stayed at the Nimb Hotel in December 2014, it was a very lovely intimate & modern hotel in an excellent location. The staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for you. It was also very nice and a bonus that we had access to Tivoli Gardens anytime we wanted. The bar was very cosy and became a real treat to come back in an evening and sit by the open fire especially in December. It was also such a treat to soak in the bath tub they had there I have to buy myself one of those, being 5.11 and able to immerse your whole body in it, just loved that. But be careful if your only 5 foot you could take a swim. On the whole fantastic hotel & location.
