New, clean and funky. The room is tiny - but that's all you need for a short trip. About 15min walking distance to the city center

I stayed at the Wakeup in March 2011 for a conference & then stayed on a few days to sightsee. The Wakeup was conveniently located right next door to the Tivoli Convention centre, which was my conference venue and was literally 2 minutes walk away. However the Wakeup's location for the main sites of Copenhagen wasnt ideal... with a good 15 minute walk into the centre. The hotel was most definately good value, however the smallness of rooms and the poor location would put me off from staying in the future.

Positives:

Good price... especially in Copenhagen, which is a pricey city to stay in.
Handy location for the Tivoli Congress centre.
Breakfast was a limited, but adequate spread... bread, meat, cheeses, tea, coffee etc.
The free wifi was extremely useful.
Free iMacs for use in ground floor.

Negatives:

For the main sites and tourist sites, the Wakeup was a good 15 minute walk.
The rooms were extremely small... for 1 person they are adequate, but for a couple, things start to get a bit tight!

Hotel is located near the city center, rooms are clean. But the service is awful bad. Staff are versy unfriendly. You need always to wait in the queue in the reception. There are HD TVs in the rooms, but not telephone. This means if you need an extra towel you should go to reception wait in the queue and ask for a towel. There is a specific room that you can put your suitcase there and you need to pay for it, you can not leave it by reception. I hate this style of making money, which you can only find in European countries.
I highly recommend not taking this hotel (Hostel)

Stayed here for two nights with friends in a family room. (two adjacent rooms with a connecting door).

Rooms were small but they were big enough. The bathroom had frosted glasswalls, so you get to be a bit private, but you could hear everything. Good to know if you don't travel with close friends ;-)

Other than that:

1) Excellent price for what you get
2) Very good location (5 minutes walk from Tivoli/Central station)
3) Breakfast could be a bit richer (no eggs, vegetables etc), so visit Anderson Bakery next to Tivoli for a fantastic brunch!!)
4) Very clean and fresh
5) Good beds, pillows, linen.
6) Free WiFi

= The perfect budget hotel!!!! Look no further!

Clean, modern and excellent value for an expensive city. OK, room not large but everything perfectly proportioned and comfortable. Good shower, large plasma tv and wi-fi. Check-in and out hassle-free. Bit out of the way but just 10-15 minute walk to station and Tivoli Gardens. I was at a conference at the Bella Centre and it is just a 15 minute bus ride (number 30, DK24) from just around the corner from hotel on main road (Kalvebod Brygge). Not a long-stay hotel, especially for a couple, but highly recommended.

We stayed there for one night for our first night in Denmark. The location was a bit far. The room was smallish but deco was modern. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

My husband and I are budget hotel royalty. We know what to expect and read the reviews before booking. Wakeup did not disappoint. The room we reserved was on the lower level (cheapest as they base price upon "view") but since our plane from the states got in at 7 am, we were simply too tired to wait on our room, check in generally being 3 pm. Of course, they had an upgrade available (but not any rooms on our level, so they say :) but we bought in, 1. b/c we weren't about to argue there was a room on our level available and 2. we really did not care or mind to spend the extra $20 (American) to go up immediately. The rooms are tiny, the hotel gives you exact dimensions so those of you who bother with complaining about that fact just did not do their homework. Most European, esp. budget hotels are going to be smaller than what Americans perceive as comfortable. We loved it. Being "fit" in American standards we ourselves did only find it cramped in the fact we were backpacking and had two weeks worth of clothes and needs with us - so storage was our only complaint. *Tip - it is a good 20 minute walk from the train station and it took us a couple of days to realize there was a bus that passed directly in front of the hotel, though its quite sporadic - (not supposed to be but that bus just happened to break down while waiting in the rain!) so we generally just got off our lazy butts and walked. Its super close to Tivoli (though doesnt open until April) and the major walking road "Stroget" is just a few minutes pass that. I can complain that all their sandwiches were gone when we got home after a stroll (ok, it was late :) but I was super hungry, even telling the reception.... the next morning we were told by a different receptionist that they have the numbers of 24-hour pizza delivery, so I did not have to live on chips and gummi bears that night! Otherwise, a really cute, quaint hotel - but if you are oversized - just don't even try! Pay more and stay somewhere that can accommodate you! Again, we loved it! We will certainly stay again if coming to Copenhagen! (Reception was super informative and nice too, btw) OMG - and they give you two matching full duvets for each large bed so you aren't fighting for covers! My husband intend to make this a "thing" in our house... later on, we realized this is how it was for every hotel we went to and is genius!
