Wakeup Copenhagen Carsten Niebuhrs Gade

We stayed 3 nights in Wakeup Copenhagen and found this newish hotel to be one of the more reasonably priced places in the otherwise expensive city. There is little requirement to speak to anyone as you check yourself in and out.

Rooms are super clean, white and modern. Small but has everything you need for a city break when all you want is a comfortable place to sleep. Location is good, about 15mins walk from the city and close to the main train station.

Breakfast is extra and why bother when you have access to such amazing danishes. A good place to stay if you want to explore the city and want value for money.

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Central station and Tivoli, but there are no shops or convenience stores in the area. The room and bathroom were a bit small, but it had everything we needed. I could hear some snoring or low voices from the next room, but other than that it was fine. The bathroom wall was frosted glass - seems to be common in European hotels? Continental buffet breakfast included. The elevators were slow and didn't fit more than 4 people so ended up taking the stairs most of the time. I found this hotel to be one of the newer and cheaper hotels in Copenhagen. Would recommend others stay here if all you need is a safe, comfortable and clean place to sleep at night.

I booked this hotel specifically because of other people's posts on Trip Advisor. The hotel was everything one would need ergonomically designed and somehow chic. I was traveling with my partner and a friend and we opted for a connecting family room...which was even a more amazing deal than the already inexpensive rates. Upon arriving in Copenhagen my luggage was lost at the airport...Twice. The staff at the hotel could not have been more accommodating. I went without my bag for two days and when it did arrive at the hotel the staff was just as excited as I was. If you do stay at this hotel take advantage of the rental bikes...the price is very reasonable and they are a great way to navigate Copenhagen. The Carlsberg Brewery is a must and fairly close by bike.

New, clean and funky. The room is tiny - but that's all you need for a short trip. About 15min walking distance to the city center

I stayed at the Wakeup in March 2011 for a conference & then stayed on a few days to sightsee. The Wakeup was conveniently located right next door to the Tivoli Convention centre, which was my conference venue and was literally 2 minutes walk away. However the Wakeup's location for the main sites of Copenhagen wasnt ideal... with a good 15 minute walk into the centre. The hotel was most definately good value, however the smallness of rooms and the poor location would put me off from staying in the future.

Positives:

Good price... especially in Copenhagen, which is a pricey city to stay in.
Handy location for the Tivoli Congress centre.
Breakfast was a limited, but adequate spread... bread, meat, cheeses, tea, coffee etc.
The free wifi was extremely useful.
Free iMacs for use in ground floor.

Negatives:

For the main sites and tourist sites, the Wakeup was a good 15 minute walk.
The rooms were extremely small... for 1 person they are adequate, but for a couple, things start to get a bit tight!

Hotel is located near the city center, rooms are clean. But the service is awful bad. Staff are versy unfriendly. You need always to wait in the queue in the reception. There are HD TVs in the rooms, but not telephone. This means if you need an extra towel you should go to reception wait in the queue and ask for a towel. There is a specific room that you can put your suitcase there and you need to pay for it, you can not leave it by reception. I hate this style of making money, which you can only find in European countries.
I highly recommend not taking this hotel (Hostel)

Stayed here for two nights with friends in a family room. (two adjacent rooms with a connecting door).

Rooms were small but they were big enough. The bathroom had frosted glasswalls, so you get to be a bit private, but you could hear everything. Good to know if you don't travel with close friends ;-)

Other than that:

1) Excellent price for what you get
2) Very good location (5 minutes walk from Tivoli/Central station)
3) Breakfast could be a bit richer (no eggs, vegetables etc), so visit Anderson Bakery next to Tivoli for a fantastic brunch!!)
4) Very clean and fresh
5) Good beds, pillows, linen.
6) Free WiFi

= The perfect budget hotel!!!! Look no further!
