“Value for money”
Reviewed 15 October 2013 via mobile

Ok a little bit of an extra walk to the city but. ... rooms are clean and modern. Person 2 has to climb over person 1 to go to the bathroom during the night, not a lot of privacy when in shower if your just "friends". Wifi very strong and fast. All up value for money!

Nice located hotel, clean and i think very comfortable for a few days trip in Copenhagen. You can have easy access on foot both in the city center (Tivoli etc) and the seaside for a walk, as well. Neveertheless, next time (if it will be) I'll choose a bicycle outside th hotel.

the room I stayed is rather small, but is perfect for singles travelling for business (not sure if they have bigger rooms for couples or families, but if not, this will be a put off). The furnishings are modern, and the rooms are very clean (perhaps because the hotel is relatively new). Glass shower stall is also very small and compact, and you cannot maneuver around much inside.

location wise, it is near enough to walk about 10 mins to central station where the train system connects you everywhere else. From there it is also very near to walk to the Stroget. The hotel is near to the waterfront, where there is a shopping mall, and also the Harbour bath. I did a couple of jogs up and down the waterfront which were really enjoyable despite the chilly weather.

Breakfast in the hotel was not great though, day after day, there were only bread, ham, cheese and hard boiled eggs. i gave up after 2 days, and would rather skip breakfast for a better lunch later on. (there aren't any other food options nearby as they are mainly offices, and the nearby mall does not open so early).

We went here for a weekend in mid-August, where prices seemed quite high compared to a very simple concept: small, practical rooms, central location, simple breakfast at reasonable price. This is all okay, but the elevator capacity is ridiculously low (as a standrad we waited at least 5-10 minutes each time), and the luggage storage capacity was minimal.

A great place to stay if you are on a budget but not looking for the hostel scene. Hotel is clean and modern. Rooms are certainly on the small side, but do not feel cramped. Rooms have private bathroom and shower (fyi...they are somewhat see-thru in case you are modest), TV, folding table/desk and chairs. Staff is friendly and helpful.

It is not in center city - but in a 10-15 minute walk you can be in the center, tivoli gardens, etc. You will need to walk to restaurants and such - nothing right around the hotel. Hotel also rents bikes - an even easier way to get around the city!

Only suggestion is it would be nice if they had a coffee pot or water heater to make coffee/tea in your room.

I loved it - slept great - clean, quiet, secure. I've already booked my next stay!

I was in Copenhagen for a conference and chose the Wakeup Copenhagen because it was one of the lower-priced options, and it didn't sound dreary on TripAdvisor. I booked a room for 5 nights and wasn't expecting too much but wound up being really pleasantly surprised. Having spoken with some of my colleagues who stayed at other (more expensive) hotels and had many complaints, I'm even more pleased with this hotel.

Here's what my compact and efficient room had to offer:
* Just enough room for one person -- I personally would find it too small to share
* A modern glass-enclosed bathroom "pod" offering little privacy (another reason not to share)
* Decent amount of counter space next to the sink for make-up and toiletries
* A shower with actual doors that close and therefore prevent the entire bathroom from getting wet -- apparently this is a rare commodity in Copenhagen
* Well functioning plumbing -- no clogs, drips or strange behavior
* A modern hairdryer that works fine
* Decent lighting (bathroom lighting, one overhead light, and two reading lights at the head of the bed)
* Comfy bed with extra pillows & linens in the drawer underneath (the pillows are kind of squashy, but stacking one on top of the other worked for me)
* Stylish, modern, new decor
* A wall-mounted rack with a few coat hangers in lieu of a closet
* A small wall-mounted table and nightstand and two chairs
* Windows that open a bit to offer a breeze
* Climate control in the room
* A wall-mounted flat screen TV viewable from the bed with plenty of channel choices, including English options
* A wall-mounted pull-out luggage rack, which I didn't use since it took up space; instead I put my suitcases in the space at the foot of the bed and stored my clothes in the drawer under the bed after removing the extra linens and stashing them on one of the chairs
* Quiet -- I wasn't bothered by noise from neighboring rooms although perhaps they weren't occupied

Here's what the rooms don't have:
* A phone, so if you need the front desk you have to go down or use your mobile
* Any toiletries aside from a packet of shower gel/shampoo which is impossible to open if your fingers are wet, and small bars of soap
* A safe
* Any coffee or tea making supplies
* An iron or ironing board (but there are some in the basement, apparently)

The breakfast room was spacious and modern. Choices included hard-boiled eggs, meats and cheeses, breads and rolls, butter and jam, corn flakes and granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, milk and juices, and perhaps a couple of other things that may have slipped my mind.

The elevators were quick and responsive -- I never had to wait more than a few seconds.

The staff (front desk, breakfast room and cleaning crew) were all friendly.

There is a bit of a walk or bike ride involved whenever you head out, but it's not too far away from some of the central attractions. And if you're going to the Bella Conference Center, you can just walk down to the corner and catch a bus that will take you directly there in about 20 minutes.

I would definitely stay at the Wakeup Copenhagen if I were to visit this city again (assuming I was traveling on my own of course!).

Room Tip: My room faced away from the train tracks and toward the nearby Tivoli Hotel which had pretty colored...
