“Beautiful weekend in Copenhagen!”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

We traveled to Copenhagen the weekend before a business trip to Sweden. After reading other reviews we decided on the Tivoli Hotel. Just a few blocks from the train station it was super easy to get to even with all of our luggage. It is a bit outside of "town" and the more touristy area but that was not a problem as the bus stops at the hotel every 30 minutes or so. We arrived at 7am and our room was not ready so we dropped our luggage and headed to get some breakfast. We got back earlier than the 3pm check in time but they graciously let us check in early and sleep off some of our jet lag.

The concierge was always there to arrange for transportation or general sightseeing information. He also booked a restaurant reservation at Koefoed for us - what an amazing experience!!

Our room was on the small side but clean and quiet. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant, however, we did get some coffee and tea there when we arrived. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.

One evening we went to the rooftop bar for a drink and some dessert. All was good except that we were unable to get our check when we were leaving. We asked our waiter AND two other staff members but the check never materialized. We left our room number and what we had and told them to charge it to our room.

The theme of the hotel is kind of a "circus" theme with bright colors all around - our favorite was the elevators! Overall, a great stay at the Tivoli - we would recommend it highly!

Room Tip: We were on the 7th floor so we did not hear any street noise unless we opened the door/window in the...

Tivoli Hotel was a great place to stay. Not a 'stand out' but neither was it bad. Rooms were quiet, but a little crowded. Comfortable but nothing special. I don't complain about the hotel, but neither did it scream 'you need to come and stay here again'.

Staff were very friendly, always ready to help. We ate at the restaurant on the 2nd floor which was an interesting experience. I don't think I have met a 'happier' waitress in my life! Sadly the food wasn't great, but the atmosphere was ok.

We walked easily to Tivoli Gardens, down to what we think was the government building (we ended up walking through it, but not entirely sure what it was), plenty of restaurants in close proximity and an easy stroll to the river.

The hotel is attached to a convention centre so it would be a great location if you were attending a trade show or exhibition there.

It was our first visit to Copenhagen, so weren't sure where to aim for with regard to location, but this proved to be an excellent choice. It is a relatively new hotel, a short walk from the Railway Station or about 15 mins by taxi from the airport. There is a regular 11a mini bus service which covers a circular route around the city centre and stops outside the hotel entrance. In addition, the hop-on, hop-off tourist buses stop too throughout the day and you are only a short walk to the nearest hop-on, hop-off canal boat tour, which stops every hour outside the nearby indoor shopping centre. It is not too far to walk to the Tivoli Gardens and on to the city centre.

Staff were all friendly and helpful and we had no problems speaking to them in English. There were also English translations on all the menus and information sheets, which was helpful.

The room in the hotel was compact, but no problem for us. We were offered the option on arrival of checking the room out first and, if we wanted to upgrade to a family room of two interlinking rooms to give extra space we could do so for DK600 per night. We decided to save our money towards the high cost of eating out in Denmark instead! Our room was on the 8th floor, but there were 3 lifts available to use so no problem getting there and we had no issues with noise. The railway runs nearby and the children were happy to watch the trains come and go. The room included free wifi, TV (including some English channels) tea and coffee making facilities and a reasonably sized bathroom - although it was a bit disconcerting to have a frosted glass bathroom door, with the Tivoli logo etched on it, which was in clear glass in places, allowing other people in the room to be able to look through it if they were tall enough!

There is a decent sized swimming pool in the basement and a children's play room. When we were there, it was not overrun with children so was great for our children to use. However, the sauna was out of action for refurbishment, so we were unable to try that out. Outside the first floor restaurant is a large roof terrace, which includes a children's play area too.

The hotel has a conference centre too, so there were large business groups in attendance during our stay.

The first floor restaurant provides a buffet breakfast. It cost around GBP18 for adults and GBP11 for children, which is quite pricy, but about on par with most other places in the area. There was a good selection of cereals, bread, fruit, cheese etc, but not very much in the way of hot food - just bacon, boiled egg, hash browns and tomatoes - no sausage or beans, which didn't please the children! There was also a good selection for the evening meal, but not a cheap option. An alternative is to head to the city centre where there are various buffets available for about £10 per head - we tried a Chinese buffet and it was really good value and well presented, with a selection of the usual Chinese buffet items, plus fresh fruit and sushi, as well as some potato wedges which the kids liked.

We didn't try out the sushi restaurant on the top floor, but it has a good reputation.

You can hire bicycles from the hotel, but we didn't try this.

If you are looking for a cheaper option, the same hotel group own the budget hotel Wake Up Copenhagen, which is right next door too, so could be another alternative worth considering as it is also newly built.

There is building work going on outside, which we could see from our room, as an extension is being built onto the hotel, but we had no problems with noise from this as the work was only during the day when we were out and about.

We would definitely use this hotel again.

Room Tip: We were in the highest floor for standard rooms, which was the 8th floor. The executive rooms are o...

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Tivoli Hotel, Copenhagen. The location is an easy walk to the center of town and a short distance from the airport. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The rooms were well decorated and clean. Although the breakfast room was crowded, the food choices were more than ample. We would not hesitate to return.

Hotel is located walking distance from Tivoli Amusement Park. Great service by the concierge and very smooth check in / check out. Rooms are small, but this is very normal for Scandinavia. Room design is very kids friendly. There is also heated indoors pool and kids play area. For people with high expectations on food and not experienced in Scandinavia, I don't recommend to take buffet breakfast, but rather to walk somewhere outside to coffee shop or restaurant. Buffet is very limited (which is also quite a norm in Danish hotels).

Room Tip: Beds are small and rooms are small. If you need a big bed, don't go for single room and if you t...

Location seems dodgy on arrival but it really is an easy cycle into the centre and very safe with the great bike lanes. Bikes can be rented from the hotel easily. This really is a conference or group hotel so the rooms are best suited to 1 person. However the pool and playroom were great and there were lots of families staying. Breakfast was plentiful and
pretty good but overall would prefer to stay closer to tivoli Gardens and in a larger room-

Dear Guest,

Thank you for reviewing Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center.
I am happy to know that you took advantage of the bike rental here at the hotel during your stay. You are right about the bike lanes; Copenhagen is a very safe city to explore by bike.
Regarding the rooms I would like to inform that we also offer Family rooms which are more spacious, especially our Family rooms with connecting doors.

I hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future.

My wife and I planned an extra day in Copenhagen before boarding our ship for a cruise. After researching options, we selected to stay at the Tivoli Hotel, and it turned out to be a good choice.

Location: The Tivoli Hotel (TH) is just down the street from Copenhagen's convention center along one of the many canals of Copenhagen, so TH must serve a number of business visitors quite well. It is geographically located on the edge what is referred to as "town center", perhaps a 12-15 minute walk to Tivoli Gardens (which we did) as a reference point, or a five minute local bus ride, if that. The hotel is on the route of the local transportation services, so you never wait long to get going. (As a side note, we purchased a 24 hour Copenhagen Card that get us around town and into many local sites for either free or at a discounted rate -- Google it).

TH's appearance is modern and clean. There is a concierge desk as you enter the building, and we found the people working it both friendly and knowledgeable. The desk staff was just as friendly and welcoming, too. I had purchased our room through Hotwire and all went well with no glitch whatsoever. I was offered, and accepted, an upgraded room, as well as breakfast for two for a reasonable fee that I would expend again. That upgrade gave us a very nice corner room with a beautiful view of the canal, as well as towards the convention center (the latter view is more of an industrial view, but it was part of the corner room, so why not). Beds included two individual down comforters, plush pillows and the bed itself was very comfortable. One note: our bed included only the fitted sheet; we like the flat sheet separating body from quilt.

I'm unable to comment on the hotel’s dining offering as we ate dinner in a restaurant in Tivoli Garden, but I can say that the breakfast offering was very good. The upgrade gave us access to the “Executive” breakfast area, where they provide an excellent spread of fruits, juices and breads, and then you order off the menu. Included in the upgrade were basic egg options (ie - scrambled, over easy, etc), as well as basic meat options (bacon, ham and sausage). You could purchase for additional fee items such as Eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffles, etc, so the choice is yours. The service was again friendly and efficient.

Overall, we give the Tivoli Hotel very good marks. The amenities and service were all very good, and bottom line is that I would recommend TH to a friend.

Room Tip: If you like a water view, ask for one facing the canal.
