Description: Welcome at The Red Box, a modern asian-french fusion restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen with a fashionable situation and a very warm and smiling atmosphere and service. The menus are based on a healty edition of the classic french bistro cuisine with a twist of South-East Asian spices and vegetables. The concept of The Red Box is similar to the best fusion restaurants in New York or San Francisco, reviewers tell us...Our courses are based on the most fresh vegetables, seafood, fish and meat at the market - some of them even organic - and we also are happy to serve you a vegetarian meal.

To start with, the redbox is a fusion of chinese and french cusine. Strange ha? i thought so too, but i got completely blown away. Appearence wise is a small place, as danish ppl say cozy. When you sit down on the table you are greeted with a warm towel with a very pleasent mint scent. Menu consists of a 4 starters, 4 mains, and 5 small desert presented in a ice cold plate. i happen to have the 5 from china as a stater, that consists of a shrimp toast, which was my fav, the confict duck with plum and chilli sauce, beautifully executed, and lastly the desert. overall loved it and defenatly going back!

This place is quite a surprise. The first impression is good, and it only gets better.

The cook has a magic wand with which he makes the most tasty food out of common delights.

Actually at a loss for words. One of my best ever.

The waiters were really friendly and spoke excellent English. The food was served in small portions, and was uniformly excellent.

Very nice atmosphere.
Food tastes delicious and very well presented and served. Also the waitress explains in details the content of the dish.
Good wine list, we took an Australian shiraz and it married very well with the dishes.
Highly recommended if you want an original french-chinese experience.

The 15 dish "tasting menu" sounds formidable but spread over an evening the 15 are filling without over-indulging. The 2 starter dishes arrived on one oblong plate ( 2 mini-sized, delicious fried pancake rolls and a timbale of vegetables on a prawn cracker. The next 3 tasters were hot, prawn, clam and cod, each with a different spicey or zingy sauce. The tomato soup with crab tails in the spoon was chilli spiced. Follow this with hot Pacific oyster in shell, shrimps and clam on shell, then exquisite lamb on bone, tempura fried octopus rings, very spicey beef fillets and you are ready for the three pudding servings, rhubarb pie, Earl Grey Ice Cream and fruit mix, dotted with different chocolate creams.
We chose a Sancerre that went very well with most of the fish elements and stood up to the lamb and beef..
Overall the whole atmosphere was rather good and ambitions high, with good quality cutlery, plates you'd expect to be different, such as a slate for the puddings, very nice washrooms, Red, Black and White decor and above all an attentive and relaxed service. Only minus point, also observed by others on tables close to us, was waiting nearly 40 minutes for the starters to arrive and an over reliance on soy sauce and hot spices where delicate fish is concerned. Granted, the restaurant was full, even on a Wednesday but we'd pre-booked "the 15" with our table so this could have been served quicker if it had been an all-cold dish from the chiller and not 2 hot rolls and one cold starter. Highly recommended all the same and booking is essential.
