For some years now, the Tivoli Gardens have been open before Christmas. At this time of the year, you have to be prepared for a cold outdoor scenery, but there are many places you may pop in and warm up, get some 'glögg and æbleskiver', which are the most common specialties around Christmas in Denmark. The garden is open from 11 AM to 11 PM, but most people come after darkness, when all the decorations are most beautiful. Many special buildings have been set up for the Christmas event only, and you will find lights and colours all over. In my opinion the garden is more beautiful than ever this year. All the entertainments and restaurants are open, but many people go there for the Christmas market booths, where you can buy Christmas gifts or Danish souvenirs. You have to pay an entrance fee (95 DKK), but I consider it modest considering all things you can experience. If I may be a bit critical, I could wish better signposting of the different areas and attractions, also on the map distributed to visitors. You may soon get confused in the packed area. Dress warm and enjoy it!
