Owner description: The beautiful 400-year-old castle is situated in central Copenhagen's popular park, The King's Garden. The castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV. Today, the glory of the past can be experienced through the numerous art treasures of the previous kings and queens. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. The crown jewels and royal regalia sparkle behind the thick walls of the treasury beneath the castle.

“nice castle to visit in central Copenhagen”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Rosenborg Castle and the adjacent Kings Garden is located in central Copenhagen, and it features 3 floors and takes about an hour to tour. It's open everyday from 10AM-5PM and the entrance cost ($17/person) is covered by the Copenhagen Card (which you truly ought to buy).

The castle itself is quite a gem, and so there's lots of photo opportunities. Each room is amazing, and the most impressive is the top floor reception room. The royal jewels are held and displayed in the basement of the building, and they are worth a look at too.

Outside the castle, there's a wonderful garden to roam, and then a larger park to enjoy. On the day that we visited the castle, we essentially walked from our rental apartment to the castle, and then roamed the garden & park. Afterward, we walked (maybe 10 or 15 minutes) toward the Rundetaarn, where we found lots of lunch options.

“Lovely castle and gardens”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

If you can only visit one sight in Copenhagen, this is the place to see (not Tivoli Gardens). A charming castle with exquisitely ornate rooms, furnishings, tapestries, and artifacts. The downstairs Treasury is home to some magnificent jewelry.

“Neat old building.”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Lots of small items crammed into a neat old building. Treasury in the basement is a must see. 17th cent castle which in the 18th century was essentially used for storage after the new palace was built. That's probably why there are so many small items housed here.

“Great tapestries”
Reviewed 10 July 2014 via mobile

In a addition to the interesting crown jewel collection & amazing saddle, the castle has a very nice collection of tapestries. They are large and very detailed.
There are also some very interesting clocks worth seeing.
Though far less opulent than palaces in places like Russia and France, this castle is worth a visit.
And don't miss the nice rose garden.
