Small and very small rooms
Everything was quite clean
I did not have safe deposit box in my room (although is mentioned among facilities..)
Location is very good - nearby The Marble Cathedral and Amelienborg, 20 minutes walk from The little Mermaid, one block away from one of the main boat-drive start point
Breackfast was excellent

This was probably a wealthy family mansion before it was converted to a hotel. It is certainly a grand hotel, but the fraying at the edges is unmistakeable.
First the pros: Central locaion. It is close to Nyhavn which has lots of trendy restaurants with outside seating. Walking distance to Rosenborg castle which houses the Danish crown jewels, the Amalienborg (current residence of the Queen of Denmark) and the city center. Christiania is about 2km walk away but a short Metro ride. However there are only machines dispensing tickets and for a tourist that may not be the easy. We walked the 1.5 miles to Christiania and it was easy to get there. When the presently incomplete bridge is finished, it should be even shorter walk. The hotel has a decent buffet breakfast with both hot and cold items.
The cons: Firstly the rooms facing the street are noisy. Second the all rooms did not have AC. Our "superior" room was large by European standards, but had no AC. We asked for a room with AC and the room was much smaller. Third, the fixtures are fraying. The bathroom has a tub which is rather high and I can see it would be a problem for the older guest to get in and out of, without the danger of falling. Also, there are no anti-slip mats/strips on the bathtub which is a danger even to the younger guests. I had to struggle with the shower fixture to get it working. Beyond this, I really have no cons to talk about.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. If you need a taxi, ask the hotel to get you one--the hotel has an deal with one taxi company which results in fares lower than what you would get if you hailed a taxi on the street. Also, make sure you ask for a receipt from the cab driver. This was needed as I lost something and there seems to be no way for the taxi company to identify the driver except with the receipt. Fortunately, since the hotel had gotten the taxi for me it was easy to identify the driver.
I would definitely stay here, if I was to visit Copenhagen again.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the courtyard as well as a room with an AC, if traveling in summer.

Dear traveller,

Thank you for your review from your stay this month. We are so happy to hear that your forgotten items where delivered back to you due to assistance from our staff. In our historic building with 213 rooms we have 213 different rooms. We have room categories available in different sizes and types and some of them are to our court yard and some to the street. Not all rooms at Phoenix Copenhagen are with air condition but we are glad to hear that you were allocated one when needed. Copenhagen is normally very windy which make it better to open the window instead of air condition cooling the room. Almost all of our rooms are with bath tub or a shower + bathtub. When requested to our staff, anti-slip mats are provided to the room.

We are looking forward to welcome you back at Phoenix Copenhagen on your next Copenhagen visit.

Kind regards

Visiting Copenhagen for busienss I needed a central hotel that would give me a quiet room. The Phoenix took this request onboard and have given me a room overlooking a rear courtyard. It is so quiet I have been able to sleep with the windows open. The Phoenix has an old word charm supported by good wifi. A request to house keeping was swiftly fulfilled.

We'd done our research and booked a superior room as many people on TA mentioned the standard room was small. The check in was smooth, the staff helpful and the breakfast buffet just fine. It is well located and there are two buses that run past the hotel so getting around is easy. Try to book a room facing in as we were on the street and the noise with the window open could be a little distracting. All in all however, we'd stay again.

My friend and I stayed here for one night in May before starting a cruise to Norway. We cannot fault this hotel, everything was very good. The staff on front desk were extremely helpful with advice on the best way to see Copenhagen in the few hours we had there. We were able to leave our luggage while we went sightseeing. Highly recommended.

Convenient location to walk to sites, museums and restaurants. First room was on back side of hotel. Lots of street noise--asked to be moved to interior room and was accommodated. Second room was even smaller than first and had no AC. But ok since could open window for cool night breeze and no noisy street. Good breakfast. No handicap accommodation that I could see. Lots of steps to get in. Older hotel with charm.

Room Tip: Noisy on back of hotel. Ask for room facing terrace

Pro's:
- Great location - so close to many of the cool sites and restaurants in Cph. Fantastic morning run along the water and the Little Mermaid
- Great service - from check in to small questions, the small bottle of water for runners.
- Great break fast buffet - huge selection of nicely prepared foods. Best bacon in a long time on a hotel
- Cool atmosphere - kind of old but not run down style that I really liked.

Con's:
- The room is quite small. I could hardly stretch after my run. Not for people with claustrophopia
- No aircondition on my room - I woke up frying
- The street is quite busy and the narrow street makes the traffic noice higher - so try to get a room away from the street if you are sensible like me.

Conclusion: I really liked it for my business stay. If I was staying for longer time than a night or two and it was vacation where I would need my room to relax I might have been frustrated.

Room Tip: Avoid the lower floors and out to the street if you sleep light.
