“Excellent in all ways.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 November 2011

The Grand is Grand, indeed. And compared to some brand name hotels in Copenhagen that are also expensive, well worth the money. Space was very adequate. Bathroom very good and well-equipped. Restaurants were excellent and food was very well served. Room service was also well handled, prompt, and food quality was excellent.
I was in Copenhagen for a holiday and it made the holiday because of its convenience to everything in the center of the city.
The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. In the restaurants, the staff knew the menus and were quick to suggest items off the menu that the chefs could handle.
I would go back again!

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front of the hotel, facing the royal palace.

We stayed for 4 nights at the Grand Hotel in Copenhagen. Room was very nice, and the location is excellent!

The restaurant for breakfast for great, and we also had dinner there a couple of time and the food was terrific! Bit pricey for drinks, but that is all over Copenhagen......

Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful

There was a bright yellow light right outside our room which made falling asleep very difficuly as it was like trying to sleep in the middle of the day, and it could be quite noisy due to the busy nature of the area. Bed was great, but the other contributing factors affected the sleep quality.

We would stay at this hotel again, but would probably try to get a little higher up in attempt to avoid the light and noise. There was also a bad smell in our room as you intially walked in. We opended the windows and doors to air the room and it seemed to clear, but was waiting for you each time you returned to your room. We reported it to the hotel staff, so one would hope it's now been addressed.

Room Tip: We stayed in a junior suite; was brilliant, but try to get a room higher than the second floor.

Thank you for a thorough review and a great rating. I hope you enjoyed your 5 days in Copenhagen. Thank you for letting the staff know about the initial “smell” in the room so we could deal with it. We would have offered another room if you had wanted.

We were in Denmark on business as a group and the rooms were sufficient for us. Breakfast was really good as well. Wireless internet was effortless and work very well.

Excellent to hear that the investment in new wireless routers throughout the hotel was sucessfull and working well. We have tested a lot, but it is always nice to hear from a guest perspective.

This a convenient hotel to attractions and the city. I was there during winter and the heater was too warm. the bed is alright, cleaner sheets would be appreciated. The hotel has this old feel and the squeaky sounds as you walk along the corridor. So, if you are the type who are not very comfortable with old hotels, I would suggest you avoid this hotel and pick an newer one. It has a very small lobby but the staff is pretty helpful when it comes to direction and places to eat.

Thank for commenting on the "old feel" of the corridors. This is what we seek to maintain while delevering professional and up to date service.
I will compliment the reception for the helpfulness they showed.
I'm sorry about the heater being to warm and I hope you contacted the reception to fix it.

The hotel is situated very near to train station and Tivoli Park. It is at the center of Copenhagen.
The room I stayed was not the typical rectangular shape. It has an entrance space before reaching the bed and then the toilet. As this is the new wing, the walk from lift to my room is rather far.
I have minor problem with one of the lamps in my room and the maintenance crew cound not resolve this on that day. However, their working attitude was good
Breakfast at this hotel was good, and the food during dinner was superb.
Overall, I would say this hotel is ideal for this city's short stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room not facing main road as it can be noisy.

Thank you for the nice review. I can tell you had an odd shaped room far from the mainstream hotel room. I'm happy you liked our cosy Italien restaurant. Your tip about quiet rooms is good.

I stayed at the hotel for four nights. The hotel is located centrally, however, it is pretty old and needs major renovation. The breakfast was rather fine. The two disturbing issues were that of Internet and water. The Internet was super slow, especially if your room is on the higher floors. Taking a shower in the morning would be a hassle as the taps are pretty old and adjusting the water would be next to impossible. Plus, the water pressure was unbelievably low.

4 issues straight to the point. I couldn't have said it more clearly.
Location and Breakfast excellent value.
The Wireless Internet has now been fixed with completely new wifi-routers throughout the hotel.
The tabs will all be changed in January and February.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review.

I can't believe that this property sells itself as a 4 star hotel... I am simply amazed. The room i stayed in was tiny, along with the bathroom. The water pressure was poor in the shower but at least i had hot water. The walls are thin and i could constantly the TV's next to me in a joining rooms.
My bed was a single (despite booking a twin, but i was only there a night and couldn't be bothered to go back down those twisting stair wells to complain), and the sheets where sticky, and the pillows uncomfortable. The room also had a pungent aroma. The internet also dropped out 2 or three 3 whilst i was working.
The pièce de résistance was the disgusting remnants of body hair all over the bathroom walls, the hotel obvious don't clean there showers like others do. Hardly befitting of a 4 star hotel i would think...
The location though is perfect if you need to use the Tivoli and Copenhagen Central. Free internet is useful (when it works) and the staff seemed friendly.
However I won't be back...
I am still shaking my head how this is a 4 star hotel, and reading other reviews, the manager seems to have a shed load of work to do, I don't envy him!!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else....

Dear Guest

Thank you for putting a smile on my face with the frase: "I don't envy him". But I must say that I enjoy to walk the halls of history at Grand Hotel - although it has quirky floors. On a serious note I must admit that I do not recognize all of the shortcomings you describe. Especially the cleaning which is always of highs standards from our Head Housekeeper and I will examine what happend. I'm sorry you didn't contact the front desk so that we could fix it straight away. We have both large and luxurious rooms.
I'm glad you liked the location.
