“Good hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 October 2013

Good hotel, reasonable price-quality range.
Friendly personnel, busy, but not too busy neighbourhood.
Very central, bikes for hire, parking place for car available.
Every day from 5-6 a free happy hour in which you can have a glass of wine.
Lots of restaurants, pubs and lunchrooms around the place.

Travelling from Sweden to Germany, stopped here really early in the morning looking for a Room, i got so sick that had to run to the restrooms. Then sat down for 5 min and asked to leave unless i got a room (which i was planning to get.....) But at that point how could you trust a place that sends away a person that an hour later had to go to medicated at the local hospital?? They have no idea of what hospitality means...... Good luck Mr Manager, train better your employees.

We stayed at Hotel Danmark in September with a police group for three days -- this hotel has both good and bad points, but the bad greatly outweigh the good. First, the good: great central location, helpful staff, o.k. breakfast. Now the bad: the hotel is terribly shabby and run down once you leave the ground floor. The hall carpets are grossly spotted and lifted from the floor in great wrinkles. The rooms are shabby, with horribly stained carpets. The showers spray directly onto the floor so they flood the entire bathrooms -- we had to use a squeegee to force the floodwaters to the drain and then towel the floor drain. Speaking of towels, we had to ask for extra towels each day because only one was supplied. Our room heater didn't work. The room lights were too dim for comfortable reading. The only elevator is too small for more than two people with bags, so on check-in we had to wait about 15 minutes to use it -- the waiting line snaked outside the hotel. There is no lobby. After two days, our room was so awful we "upgraded" to the next level -- our group's contract rate was 650 kroner per room, but they charged us 1225 kroner for the "upgrade!" The final straw was that upon checkout they wouldn't accept our Visa card (from USA) without a "chip," even though the two other Copenhagen hotels where we stayed did (the magnificent Bella Sky and the comfortable and reasonable Hotel Bethel, on Nyhavn Kanal, both of which we recommend) -- so we had to scrounge up our last kroner to pay our bill and get to the airport. To sum up, we would never go back to the Hotel Danmark, despite its great location and friendly staff.

Room Tip: I doubt if there are any.

This hotel turned out to be a nice surprise considering some of the reviews we'd read. We had organised a superior double room and found it to be of excellent size, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We had a view facing the main street on level 4 and found this to be good for people watching. The bathroom layout is a little strange and by building up the shower floor you would not get water everywhere. More towels would have been appreciated but they were happy to supply extra upon request. The location of the hotel is perfect, with easy walking distance to everything. The museum is just around the corner, buses pass by the door, good restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The staff were very helpful.
We would happily stay here again and after listening to other people from our cruise ship and their complaints from more modern hotels in Copenhagen I felt we had made an excellent choice.
My only complaint would be to provide tea and coffee facilities in your room. There was never any coffee left downstairs from the free service.

Room Tip: Pay the bit extra and get a decent sized room after all it is Europe and the rooms in most hotels a...

The Hotel is ideally situated for the main railway station and the Tivoli Gardens. City Bus Tours operate from close by and the Hotel is Easy walking to most of the sites one would want to see on a short visit.
On arrival the staff were helpful but we were pleased there was just the two of us with light luggage as the tiny lift would have been a real pain to a family.
The room faced a main road but noise was not a problem. The Tivoli Gardens were clearly visible from our room but we did not find it a noise issue. I would strongly suggest that the carpets in the room and indeed in most of the hotel be replaced as they do the Hotels image no favours. The room was clean(except carpet as mentioned) the bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower very good.
Breakfast was excellent with a huge array of hot and cold items to choose from.
The hotels proximity to numerous eating places is also a plus point.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for it's situation and the friendliness of the staff, it's breakfasts and ten minute walk from the railway station.
We would both use this hotel again. L&K Pilling.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst visiting Copenhagen for a gig. The location is excellent. The walk from the railway station is just ten minutes, the Tivoli even nearer. Much of the city is within walking distance, but bus tops are close by to travel further afield (buses are frequent, even late evening and Sundays).

Reception staff were very helpful when we needed to know which bus to get to our various locations, writing down all of the details to help us.

Every day there is a 'Wine Hour' when you can go to the restaurant area and help yourself to a glass of red wine!

Breakfast is expensive, but there is a good variety on offer and you can eat as much as you like.

As others have stated the rooms could be "refreshed", but the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and you soon get used to the quirky arrangement in the bathroom regarding the location of the shower!

I have marked the hotel down to 4/5 because the lighting in the room was bad. There was no ceiling light and the side lights were not bright enough. Reading maps and timetables was very difficult.

That is my only gripe, though. We had a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here a week ago via Cresta - as we checked in late due to a late flight we were "upgraded" and I am sure we were - we had a lovely room looking over a courtyard so it was quiet. The hotel makes a big thing of being environmentally friendly so one towel (for 2) with a post-it note offering another in the wardrobe. It states with pride they do not have air conditioning in the summer but you can request fans. Well, the 2nd night of our stay - around 5pm after a day out, it was too cold for us to sit in the room and I live in Northumberland and have never been cold in a hotel room before. I went to reception and mentioned this and the lack of heating only to be told that it was Summer - when I requested a heater I was looked at like I was an alien. I know this will show my age but a flat screen (huge) TV and free wi-fi (which I do not use) does not make up for lack of heating and lighting - impossible to read or even write in the room (planet saving electric bulbs, presumably). However, plastic beakers were replaced in the bathroom every day.

Room Tip: Rooms over the courtyard are quieter than those over the busy road but do not get the sun - ideal fo...
