“Great for the price range”

Great location within a short walk of Tivoli and other attractions, and right by the train station.
Room was basic but clean.
Good wifi, worked well in our room.
Didn't eat, as breakfast seemed a little overpriced.

At check-in they tell you the timespan of breakfast. At checkout they simply add 155dkr for each eaten breakfast. This is not mentioned clear anywhere...
Rooms are worn down and staines theyve given up on all over.
Good, but sneaky, price.

Located at central station Kobenhavn H this hotel offers great starting point for touristic activities. Across Tivoli, 5 minutes from Stroget central pedestrian zone... everything is near, but... that's it, more or less, it is not expensive an offers basic accomodation, nice brekfast and rooms are pretty clean. Don't expect anything more then mentioned and you will be ok with this place. Remember, Copenhagen's hotels are very expensive so this is good solution for many who seems to have trouble to find anything decent for less then 100eur per night. Could recomend it for practical reasons..

We were transferred to this hotel as the hotel I had booked and paid for in advance was overbooked when we arrived. We were told by reception it was of equal status to the one booked. Nothing could have been further from the truth! It overlooked the train tracks of Copenhagen central railway on one side, and a busy intersection on the other. Reception area was quite pleasant but it deteriorated from there.. Rooms were tiny, hallway carpet was filthy ( and we were told it had been cleaned) it was extremely noisy from exterior noise and other guests staying. Many young people staying as some boy band was in town, and they partied ALL night. Worst stay ever! The staff were lovely, and the complimentary breakfast was ok.

Room Tip: Stay away!

Dear motherinlawSydney,

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry that your stay at Hotel Astoria did not meet your expectations. We are aware of the issues the hotel have and we are on it. We are going to renovate the hotel during the summertime and to improve atmosphere in our rooms. The hotel is located centrally and close to all attractions so I totally agree that it can be noisy.

Best wishes,

Nadia Wilk

I booked several rooms at this property at booking.com at a non-refundable rate. The dates got messed up on my reservation and booked us for the wrong dates. The hotel was fantastic and worked out a fair solution. So appreciated-2 thumbs up!

Very central location, ugly building from the 30s with the oldest revolving doors in town. Interior reminds of a ship, definitely seen its best days but friendly atmosphere and kind staff. Rather noisy street. Standard low in relation to price (which is normal in Copenhagen). Expensive breakfast.

Dear hugo070,

Thank you for your feedback.

Astoria's building is architectonic from 30ies. However, we are going to renew the building soon.
Our breakfast buffet is organic in 92%, therefore the price of 155 Dkk matches the high quality.

I hope you will visit us again in the future.

Best wishes,

Pro:
1) Staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful.
2) Minutes from downtown.
3) Seconds from the train station.
4) Very cheap.
5) The hotel dates from the mid 1930s and was designed to look like a locomotive. Stairwells, hallways and the curved revolving door are swank. Public areas are well kept up.
6) Free glass of wine at 5pm is a welcome refreshment after a day of walking about.

So-so:
1) While the hotel guests were quiet, the neighborhood is noisy, amplified by the fact that we visited during the Distortion music festival (June 4-8). It did not bother us, but if you are looking for a quiet, out-of-the-way place, best keep looking.
2) Breakfast could be improved, especially as the Radisson Blu is about a couple minute's walk way, and they have a much better offering for just a bit more.
3) To lock the door to your room you have to use your key. This is also the case when you are in your room - you lock it with your key from the inside, and leave the key in the door. Otherwise the door is unlocked - the opposite from what one usually expects. Just get in the habit of checking the door, and it is alright.

Con: A spartan room is acceptable, especially at the low price, but mildew on the ceiling and stained carpets are not. I don't mean that the cleaning staff are at fault; it is a matter of putting in new carpets and painting the place. This would go a long way to improving the Astoria experience, and it would not cost much.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite; it is one room, but spacious.A suite may not cost much more than one of the smaller...

Dear CPRail,

Thank you for the review at staying with us.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
Our breakfast is organic in 92% and high quality of products requires higher price. We want to keep Astoria's design and all doors to the rooms are kept from 30ies. However, we are going to renew the hotel to improve the interior and make our rooms cozy and more comfortable.

I hope you will choose Hotel Astoria again in the future.

Best wishes,
