Though Copenhagen is quite expensive place, I still believe that this hotel is overcharging for what it offers. I was charged almost 200 euro for a room at the top floor with very low ceiling, looking at very noisy street. Furniture and bathroom was for 2 star hotel or less. Please also be informed that the hotel charge credit card fee - this is my first ever experience with such charge. The good thing about hotel is friendly staff and location - 15-20 minutes walk from core downtown.

Thank you for reviewing us. Copenhagen hotels are quite expensive we admit and Ibsens Hotel follows the market price. This period is indeed one of the most expensive times of the year and this situation reflects on the rates at Ibsens Hotel as well as any other hotel in Copenhagen these days.

The hotel is designed by local artists and designers like HAY and Hans J. Wegner. The Scandinavian minimalism doesn’t appeal to everybody, but many of our guests choose us because they like this style. Ibsens Hotel offers our guests an authentic and local experience when staying in Copenhagen. The rooms have shelves and hooks and hangers, but no wardrobes. If you look at our website, it should become evident. The bathrooms are not modern, but the design is like the bathrooms in standard Copenhagen apartments. Please do also take into consideration that our location is in the inner Copenhagen and therefore there will be a certain amount of noise from the streets. It is possible to choose rooms towards the courtyard and as most of our rooms differ in size and lay-out we might have had the possibility to move you to a room that you would have liked better if you had contacted the reception during your stay.

The credit card fee is very common in Copenhagen. You will find that most shops, supermarkets and hotels charge credit card fee. The credit card fee reflects the expenditure we pay to the credit card companies.

Thank you for your kind words about our staff - and our location.

Very nice hotel, a little run down in the carpets in the hall of the rooms. Room very small but I guess if I had paid more I would have had a bigger one. Overall the hotel has great vibe it is always full of people around the front desk, free wine for one hour I think around 5pm . The market is really close and Copenhagen is such a fantastic city it is lovely

Thank you for your wonderful review.

Yes, we are aware of the carpets in the hall ways. In a few months we will replace them so next time you visit us - you will find new carpets.

And you are quite right - we have 6 different room types in our beautiful old building, and the bigger the room the higher the price.

We look forward to welcome you again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ibsen's in our cosy compact room. Our room was on the small side but we were out and about all day only returning to sleep in what was the most comfortable bed. There is no air con or tea and coffee making facilities nor a bar fridge in the room we had but that wasn't a problem for us. It was wonderfully situated just a few minutes walk from Norreport station. We got the train to the station from the airport for a mere dkk35. The hotel had a delicious Danish organic breakfast and a great bar and courtyard. We also hired bikes from the hotel for the day and reception provided us with maps to the city and helpful information. Would recommend and would stay here again.

We had a larger room, which by US standards is smallish. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and it was spotless. We appreciated the elevator for hauling our luggage as there was no bell service. It was warm in August and there was no air conditioning. That was not a problem as the nights were cool. However, bring your ear plugs because noise from the courtyard might be troubling. Also, smoking in this smoke free hotel is allowed in the courtyard and it wafts through open windows. Breakfast was wonderful. The bathroom was tiny but functional. I'd stay here again.

Room tip: Get a large room. Request quiet and away from the tables and seating area in the courtyard.

Thank you so much for your positive review.
We are glad you had a good stay at Ibsens Hotel. No doubt, European city hotels feature smaller rooms than average in the USA.

During Summer you will experience some noise from the courtyard as Danes love to sit out under open sky in the evening to enjoy the few summer nights we have at this time of the year. But good solution with ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise.

We look forward to see you again.

ideal comfortable good value for money place to call your second home when in cph. Very attentive staff, premises and rooms beautifully decorated, cozy reading corner, affordable original artworks for sale. Wish we could've packed in our suitcases the Nordic Amber toiletries from our ensuite room. This hotel is situated in a very relaxed area but within a stones'throw from vibrant hubs(restaurants, shops, supermarkets), let alone the very sophisticated indoor market and the best connected transport station. Wish we could go back to cph to enjoy all the things we missed out on our first time in Scandinavia. It is a very clean hotel.
