“Nice hotel, great location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014 via mobile

We spent four days in copenhagen in april and had a lovely time.

The location is perfect with Tivoli, Strøget and lots of restaurants just a short walk away. Lovely lake just outside, you can go for a jog or walk.

The room is spacious and modern. Nice view over the city and Tivoli. One negative thing is the weird bathroom door. Its made of partly transparent glass og has a gap all around. The others in the room can certainly see and hear your business.

Breakfast simple but nice.

I stayed 6 nights in Scandic for an imternational meeting. Everything OK in the room, no carpet though. Towels are a bit small, enough for me... The hotel is very well situated, near to main station, Rathaus, even Nyhaven is in walking distance. The house keeping service is indeed house tidy up service as all they did is tidying up the bed and refreshing the towels. For six nights my room was not vacuumed and become a bit filthy. Breakfast is good, conference rooms and coffee breaks are good. So good for conference, not cosy, efficient hotel which should consider a second look for house keeping services...

I traveled to Copenhagen the week of April 6, 2014 and had my reservation at the Scandic Copenhagen. Reception and greeting during check in was excellent. Room 801 was spotless and had a great view of the lake behind the hotel. Very quiet and able to sleep with no disruptions. Stayed at the Scandic Copenhagen 3 nights during my business trip to Copenhagen. The morning breakfast was outstanding with many selections including scrambled eggs, bacon, beans, many assortments of bread and other meats. Very nice area for the breakfast and many tables for seating.

Short walk to Tivoli Gardens, Stroget walking street and only 20 minute walk to the Nyhavn harbor area. Many other restaurants and eating establishments in the area.

My overall experience at the Scandic Copenhagen was super and would not hesitate to stay there again on future travel to this city.

Stayed here for two nights on business. Arrived very late on the Sunday night and had a super speedy check in. Went up to my room on the 16th floor - fantastic view over the lake - really lovely.

The room was a great size - large bed and interesting artwork!! There's everything in there you would need and made for a comfortable night.

Good breakfast the next day - great eggs!! And plenty of pastries, ham, cheese etc.

Didn't get to see much else but it was a good stay in a good location. Would definitely recommend it.

We were working here on a conference and generally our experience was very good. All the staff we had contact with were extremely helpful, and I must particularly mention Veena in the event organisation team as she was just a breath of fresh air - always smiling and always finding the solution. She is a credit to the hotel as were the technicians. Just one lady let the conference side down by being obstructive which is a shame as the other staff were really excellent.

So regarding the hotel in general I echo what another reviewer has said in that its rather clinical.
Rooms have everything you need, but nothing extra and are all identical in format. However workspace with accessible sockets were appreciated as well as window seat area so you have somewhere else to sit rather than on the bed. Initially I thought breakfast was quite poor, I love to have a nice selection of freshly prepared fruit for breakfast - but here you have to cut it yourself at a separate table with a chopping board and sharp knife ! Not ideal if you dont have long - but was amazed at soft boiled eggs which were still soft, despite being there for hours, no idea how they do this but was nice to have. Otherwise pretty standard european stuff, lots of bread, cakes and cheese and ham. Rather dry looking scrambled egg and very crispy bacon were the only hot options but acceptable. Again particularly pleasant staff.

We arrived very late straight from another job, so desperately needed a good nights sleep. However it wasnt possible to get either food or make a drink in our room. There is shop in the lobby selling sandwiches but something hot would have been nice, but not possible unless we went out. The weather was extremely wild and because the wind was so strong there was a howling noise all night from the window, and another banging noise which started at around 3am and turned out to be a cover of the services access box on the fire escape exit which we were next too. Only 3 hours later we had to be up and ready to start work, so stood under the shower to wake up but after a minute the water became scalding and no amount of twisting the controller would make it any colder. So when we asked for this to be looked at as we needed to be able to shower the very pleasant receptionist moved us to another room on the same floor so we werent too inconvenienced - and to a much nicer room, which was appreciated as we were there for 5 more nights and had 4 large suitcases and a mobile office set up.

The hotel has some lovely stylish quirks, swings in the lobby and conference areas are a fun touch, and the general decor is typically Scandinavian and very very stylish, but the bar/restaurant was empty and lacked any atmosphere. I sat with a colleague who was eating alone, whilst waiting for another to finish work, but when he arrived he was unable to eat as it was 10pm and the kitchen had closed. It would have been useful to have been told this by the bar staff, as he ended up not eating that night as it was so awful outside we didnt want to have to try and find something quick and easy, especially as we all had a very early start the following morning.

Another thing that I was very surprised about was the room cleaners knocking at the door, despite the do not disturb sign being on , saying they were about to go so if I wanted the room serviced it had to be done now. I explained that I was working at the desk which was directly at the bottom of the bed, but they could come in if I wasn't in their way. However despite the fact I was pouring over documents on my computer and quite obviously trying to concentrate they continued to chatter loudly and made no attempt to be quiet whilst I continued working. I am often in hotel rooms when they are being cleaned, and always they are respectful of the fact that I am working and have never experienced anything quite like this.

The location is slightly out of the main areas of Nyhaven, and there is a seedy area just across the road from the hotel, but this doesnt mean its dangerous in any way. The main train station is a couple of blocks away and Tivoli gardens again very close.

So I guess what would be useful is would I stay here if I was arranging to stay myself - and not for work. I think the answer is probably yes. But I would check the shower was working properly before I unpacked, as most of our group said they were having problems controlling the temperature, so its a problem they are going to have to address very soon as despite looking fairly new, they are not wearing particularly well and the thermostats seem to be failing in many of the rooms.

Copenhagen is an extremely expensive city to those of us from the rest of Europe, and we were unable to find anywhere nearby to eat that we felt offered good value. Last time we were there we headed for a busy square with lots of restaurants, and therefore offering better value, but the two we visited were both expensive and poor value. So be prepared to venture a little further (maybe 15 minute walk - so not too far) for a bigger choice and better value.

If you are interested the restaurants reviwed are Mad (ok for meat lovers and very good, but expensive as its right by Tivoli entrance) and Vesuvio (thinks its better than it is ! Food ok - staff not interested, overpriced!)

Room Tip: Check shower works ! All rooms similar unless you pay for a suite which has sitting area also, but...

this is an effiicient and clean hotel, everything is working perfectly. breakfast is ok - what it lacks is a bit of charm - and the little extra. no coffee in room, no shoe polish, breakfast ok, but bit boring. so if they could come up with the extra - go there.

Room Tip: as high as possible!

Great situation, it's in the middle of Vesterbro (cool area) and the commercial area odlf Cph. It's a modern hotel with good facilities and service. Functional nordic style. The breakfast buffet is quite good.
