Reseption staff very friendly romm large and well appointed however noisy. Avoid rooms facing the railway station. The gym is nice with good professional equipment. Breakfast good.

I was surprised to find this old-ish hotel at No 20 as it really has so much character and it is so well situated right in the centre of Copenhagen. Also the service is great. The hotel is next to the railway station which makes it a good location for stopping off after the short trip to/from the airport and before carrying on by hire car (locally situated) or train (a joy) to other parts of Denmark - and there is a lot to see both in Copenhagen itself and the surrounding region. The Plaza has the most wonderful library bar which should not be missed and a very good restaurant. We are not usually fans of hotel restaurants as the food seems to be a 'secondary' affair, but in Denmark this is often not the case. The menu is not large but if you like what you see on it you are unlikely to be disappointed by the quality. And if you don't like what you see, there is always the excellent Nimb restaurant just across the road. The Plaza is only 100 metres from all the great attractions, including Tivoli entrance, the Tourist Info Centre, the start of the famous walking street - which will take you to the famous Nyhaven port area with its great outdoor cafes and restaurants - and many of the musuems and beautiful state buildings are just a short walk or taxi ride away. The rooms are upgraded with all necessary mod-cons but it is the general character of the public areas that is so appealing. And the price is very good for a city centre hotel - but don't expect a pool and gym - hotels of this age didn't cater for such modern pastimes by travellers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony facing Tivoli

This is an older hotel, a bit like our house, needs a little paint here and there, but is generally well-kept. Our spacious room had a sofa and two chairs so we could reorganize our belongings after 17 days of travel. There were plenty of shelves and closets, a fridge, and the bathroom was large. The shower didn't flood. The breakfast was superior with lightly cured salmon, cold cuts, poached eggs, and so on.The day we arrived was a holiday, so Copenhagen was largely closed down. We ate in the newly re-opened hotel restaurant, and were very pleased. This is not a budget hotel, but it is good value, I think, in its category. Try to have coffee or a drink in the library bar and go back in time a little.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sofa.

I stayed here for two nights in early June. Location couldn't be better if you're looking for airport transportation - the train station is across the street and the trains run regularly to the airport. It is a twelve minute ride to the airport. The hotel is older and in need of repair/refurbishment, but overall it was clean and about the best value I could find in an otherwise expensive city. Location was also very good for shopping - only a few blocks to Stroget and also virtually across the street from Tivoli Gardens. Room 106 was spacious, clean and had a balcony. Based on the fire exit picture, it looks like rooms 107 and 108 would have been the largest rooms on our floor. The bathroom was reasonably sized for Europe and included a tub. There was plenty of storage and a HD television with about 10 channels with one or two english channels. The room also included a minibar and programmable safe. The breakfast in the morning was good and offered scrambled and fried eggs along with one other hot egg dish, baked beans, bacon, sausage, potatoes, cold cuts, pate and cheese along side a selection of breads/bagels, There is also a fitness center but I did not see it. The lobby had a computer for printing out your boarding pass. The best feature of the hotel is the Library Bar which is truly old world and a good place to unwind. It has a domed glass ceiling, old wood paneling and candles. It also seemed to be a local meeting point, perhaps for going over to Tivoli. I would stay here again without hesitation.
