“very central, fabulous bed”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

husband and I stayed here for three nights - paid to upgrade to suite which was a good move - enjoyed sitting by window watching canal. Basic rooms do not have coffee/tea making facilities which is a let down.
Avoid staying on a Monday as museums shut. Breakfast okay - coffee not great. Staff lovely.
Really comfortable bed and okay bathroom. Went to Malmo for day on train which was fun.

Room Tip: pay for an upgrade

Family stayed one night in a twin room, the two kids on their own in a small, but neat room with their own bathroom. Friendly atmoshere in reception, very effective - and no problems arriving early - they stored the baggage without much fuzz. Quiet surrondings on the quay-side of town. Rooms quite small - but very ok if you don't have to stay for ages. Not much space ... if any... to unpack suitcases. Busy breakfast on a Sunday - but staff working hard to keep up with the number of customers. Close to Nyhavn - and easy to reach the shopping area - no need for taxi. Would absolutely come back!

Room Tip: Room 1025 / 1027 good if you go with kids.

Stayed here for 2 days for work. I was impressed with the hotel, it's very nicely located along a river (or harbour, not sure), and very close to the centre of the city.

Reception checkin was quick although they form I had to fill out was a bit long. The room was nice and clean (though no view, it was facing an alley). It was fairly small but not cramped, big enough for me. It was very quiet all night, not even any cars to be heard. The bed was good, other facilities such as WiFi were free but the WiFi strength was not great in my room.

Breakfast was a bit expensive for a continental one, I don't remember exactly how much. But it was nice and they had lovely Danish pastries.

I'll stay there again if I can. It's a bit far from the office in Ballarup but doable and it's really nice to go for a stroll at night in the area.

My husband and I had a lovely 5 night stay at the Copenhagen Strand Hotel in October 2013. Our room was small (as we were expecting - it is Europe), but well organized with a very comfortable semi-double bed and a good-sized bathroom. We were on the top floor with a cute, little balcony and peek-a-boo view of the nearby canal - it would have been quite enjoyable in the summer months.

The location was perfect: with a scenic setting along a canal, the Strand is close to the metro (direct shot from the airport) and walking distance to the restaurants along Nyhavn and all the sights of old town.

We did not have much interaction with the staff beyond check-in and check-out, but they were friendly and on task. Can't comment on the restaurant, as we never ate there.

Room Tip: Basic rooms are small with a semi-double bed - upgrade if that will be a problem for you.

Straight to this hotel on the M2 metro (and about 5 minutes walk). I was more than pleasantly surprised as soon as I walked in. Reception was large and airy with a distinctly nautical feel. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful giving directions to where we had our meeting the following day. The room was well appointed, if somewhat 'compact and bijou', but the wi-fi was fine. No tea/coffee making facilities in room which was a shame. The bed was too soft for my taste, resulting in quite a poor nights sleep, but it may be OK for others. Breakfast was I guess typically Danish with pastries, porridge, cold meats and cheeses, cereal and bread (but NO BACON!).

Summary: Nice hotel in pleasant location, with small but comfy rooms. Slightly expensive, but I would still recommend it to others.

I stayed here on a short business trip in October 2013. The hotel is in a good location just by the Canal, and not far from the center. I had a fifth floor room, and it was very quiet. The room I had was small but very clean and comfortable. The staff at reception are very friendly and helpful. Hotels in Copenhagen are quite expensive, but this one was fairly priced and had very good value for money. Very good for a business trip. Will gladly come back to The Strand on my next trip.

The Copenhagen Strand is a good hotel in a good location, but it is not in the center of the action. Nevertheless, it is very convenient to Nyhavn, and within an easy walk of the key sights in central Copenhagen. We walked there (pulling suitcases) from the central train station, and walked from there to the Oslo ferry - in both cases, a bit of hike, but easily doable.

I understand that room sizes vary. Our room, on the top floor, was barely big enough to accomodate a full size bed, but had a (tiny) outside balcony. Room was clean and comfortable, despite its tight quarters. Breakfast was very good. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Overall, a very good value.
