Hotel Kong Arthur makes you feel alive yet relaxed with the cosy rooms, luxurious spa and helpful staff. The breakfast buffet is absolutely fantastic with a lot of healthy choices. The possibilities for sitting in sofa groups is much better than I have seen in other hotels.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard is quieter.

Our two stays at the Kong Arthur Hotel surrounded our Baltic Cruise in late July and early August of 2014. We had chosen the hotel on the recommendation of friends and found many reasons to be pleased with their advice. The setting is attractive, a cul-de-sac facing one of the five lakes spread across the middle of the city. It is a ten or fifteen minute walk from Rosenborg Castle, the heart of the old city or Tivoli, depending on which direction you choose. The interior is charming, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The glass enclosed breakfast room and patio are pleasant and the buffet style breakfast is excellent.
The rooms are somewhat Spartan, but attractive. The designation "small" for some of them is certainly honest, but they are serviceable. The hotel's concern for being "green" is carried to an extreme with only one face cloth and no hand towels provided for two guests. The combination of a shower floor level with the washroom floor, thus allowing water to flow across part of the floor, and the 240v hairdryer hanging above the puddle would have been daunting had we not brought our own.
The hotel claims a connection with the restaurant in the courtyard behind it, and if they refer to the Italian restaurant they might want to reconsider their relationship. My wife and I were not amused by the restaurant's refusal to serve us unless we ordered more than the pizza we had intended to share. We had ordered more on a previous visit, but were not very hungry this time.
We did not return to this establishment.
We found two major problems with this hotel. First, it is entered by a flight of stairs. Another flight down takes one to the elevators. For retirees with four heavy cases (necessitated by formal nights on the ship), these stairs created some hardship. Ramps would be helpful.
The second problem resulted from the timing of our trip, during a heat wave which struck the whole of the Baltic area--great on the ship, but deadly in a hotel with NO AIR CONDITIONING, in a city with abnormally high humidity. Our first room was on the fourth floor, directly under the roof, an area which the sun had turned into an oven. Needless to say, despite our fatigue after an all night flight, sleeping was very difficult.
To their credit, hearing our concerns on our return, the staff provided an upgrade to a larger room in a different location which was certainly more comfortable, though air conditioning still would have been appreciated.
In summation, the Kong Arthur has much to offer but needs to improve in some areas, especially if Baltic heat waves continue to occur in years to come.

I always stay at this hotel when I am in Copenhagen with my job. Nice and friendly service, good and spacy rooms, cozy hour with a free drink, free entrance to spa, very good restaurant in the backyard and finally a wonderfull breakfast.

Hotel Kong Arthur is an inexpensive hotel option in an expensive city. It is a ten minute walk from Norreport station, which is so easy to get to from the airport. The hotel has a spa attached which is pricey but very good. There are also several restaurants associated with the hotel which are very good - a great number of locals eat in the sushi and tapas restaurants.
The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful (with my insistence on speaking in faltering Danish, even though everyone of course speaks perfect English!). Be sure to hang around the hotel between 5 and 6pm for cosy hour - a nice touch of good service. The bowl of apples by the front door for guests to take with them is another nice touch in the hotel.
The room was clean, decent sized and warm with enough room to move around. There were plenty of facilities in the room including an iron and fold out ironing board, wi-fi and a mini bar amongst others.
The only negative point I would offer is the breakfast option - it is expensive for what it is. However it is an expensive city to stay so I guess the price only reflects that: service at breakfast was of course very good and friendly.

We had a pleasant and relaxing stay in Kong Arthur. The hotel is some walking distance from the central train station, but is in good location to the city centre and all the touristic spots. We had one room overlooking the courtyard and one looking to the outside entrance. There was no air conditioning, but none was needed as the weather was pretty cool and nice!

The staff were very helpful, warm and friendly. A tray of apples made available to customers on their way in and out of the hotel was a great detail, and a healthy & tasty choice for both kids and adults! The breakfast served was great, loved the variety of teas, and pastries, as well as the spacious area.

There were two things that we would do differently next time if possible. One; to choose a room with a shower instead of a bathtub - don't know if there is a choice, but would definitely ask as we don't prefer bathtubs. Two; to choose/request rooms on the same wing of the hotel. The two rooms we had were on the different wings, thus we had to use one elevator to get to the lobby, change elevators, and then use another one to go up to the other room; it got a little tiring at times.

Overall had an enjoyable stay

We all agree that Copenhagen is expensive, so finding a reasonable hotel is not easy. Hotel Kong Arthur is advertised as a "4 Star" establishment, and we thought we were going to get a nice room at a decent price by booking through a discount website. And we did, kind of. The hotel is sprawling and clean, the location good, and the lobby space appealing, but with a significant drawback: steep steps in the front entrance and more steps to get to the elevators. If you're carting heavy luggage as we were, you're pretty much on your own. Once we registered and lugged our bags up to the fourth floor to our room, we opened the door to a very small space with a very small bathroom, no AC, and a very small bed with a sub-par mattress. It was clean and well laid out, but more than basic. The hotel personnel were nice and accommodating, the free wine from 5 to 6 pm pleasant, but certainly not "4 Star" based on the steps and the room. Maybe we got stuck with the tiny room because we booked through the discount website, but that's not very nice to do to two older and tired American tourists who are used to better treatment.

Room Tip: Don't settle for 421; it's too small. Negotiate a bigger room.

This hotel is a little out of the way, but it has reasonably easy access to Norreport, which is a major transportation hub.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the fact that a room was available even though we arrived before noon.
Everything was clean and comfortable, although a bit cramped. The room was very small, even by Scandinavian standards. We only had one suitcase; finding room for a second might have been difficult.
As others have pointed out, there is no air conditioning, and during the summer it can be quite warm , noisy and uncomfortable. They say they have 'deselected' it to save the environment. While carbon neutrality is a laudable goal, it would be nice if they mentioned that on their web site to ensure their clients enter knowingly. We were not there during the hottest part of the summer, and the fan did help, but it was still not the best night's sleep we have ever had and I sympathize with those who were there during a heat wave.
Breakfast was excellent and the courtyard is a lovely place to take it.
