“great budget place”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Back in my home time, I been enjoying day staying here, It is perfectly located, the staff are friendly when I checked in my credit card did not work, this caused no problem at all, the recommended me to try a ATM machine which worked.

At breakfast i found 15 different rolls, cheeses, different cold cuts, jams in plenty, it been great staying here,

The room is a bit small but for the price in Copenhagen, honestly I cheap Charlied chose the cheapest place and been positively surprised.

Got a better deal than I had expected. So price compared with quality is good a rare bargain to find in Copenhagen.

And all while I stayed here the staff have been friendly smiling so if anyone looking for a decent place, large filling breakfast come to Saga Hotel.

Friendly reception, advised where to find an optician as the lens fluid was confiscated at the airport. good location, very large choice of food at the breakfast area.
The bathroom was maybe a little small.

Given the average hotel prices we were not expecting luxury. The room was small but functional and clean. As stated elsewhere the walls were a bit thin, but the noise levels were alright. However the location made up for it. Located one block away from the central station we could easily walk everywhere within or outside the city. And for someone arriving late at night, the proximity to the train station is really helpful.

The stay at the hotel was ok. It would have been better but there were some positive aspects to it.
I found the wall to be quite thin and you could here everything going on around you which is not always great when there is school group staying on the same floor.
The lack of an elevator was annoying and I hope there was offers of assistance with luggage for any elderly guests.
I don't remember the website mentioning that there was a shared bathroom but there was and it wasn't too bad, there was always showers and toilets available.
The room was basic as you would expect for the price you are paying. the free Wi-Fi was a plus.
A lot is made about the proximity to the red-light district and drunks. The red-light area is not that prominent for a major modern city and is only in the area heading West. The only drunk and dodge people I saw on the streets was near the train station entrance and the hotel can hardly be blamed for that. The proximity to the train station and Tivoli Gardens was excellent.
Breakfast was also delightful each morning and the only thing I would like to see change would be the level of service for the restaurant and reception staff. A smile goes along way.

We weren't expecting luxury, obviously. But we chose this hotel cos on a tight budget and wanted a room for 4. It's clean and the service is helpful, friendly and multilingual. The breakfast is fabulous - a real wide variety of choice and decent coffee.

It's a great location - lots of buffet-style restaurants in the area. Also Copenhagen public transport is very efficient, and being located right by the central station it's very easy to catch S-trains, regular trains and buses: to any location you might wish - the airport, Helsingor, around town, even to Sweden.

The wifi is free and is very efficient, fast - 100% connection all the time.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants something a bit better than a hostel, but can't afford 3* or 4* in this expensive city.

So, you've probably read some of the other reviews already and know that this isn't the Ritz, but what it is, is a half decent base to explore Copenhagen.

The location is perfect. If you step outside the hotel and take 5 steps to the right, you can see the side of Copenhagen Central station 1 block away down the side street. It literally took all of 3 minutes to walk to from the station. It's also really close (less than a 10 minute walk) to Tivoli Gardens and there is a shop directly over the road to buy some supplies.

Just as an aside from the location, it has been mentioned previously about the 'undesirables' which knock about round the station. Yes, there are some scruffy people drinking all day around the side of the station, but with any city, you just need to have your wits about you. They didn't bother us (or seem to be bothering anyone else) while we walked past them.

The hotel itself is a bit tired and could do with a spruce up. It's well publicised that the hotel doesn't have a lift and we were on the top floor but my bag wasn't too heavy so it wasn't a problem for me. The free WiFi also worked well up there. I booked a superior double with private bathroom and I was a little surprised at how basic the room was considering it was supposed to be 'superior'. I'd seen some pictures of double rooms which were much bigger than ours and wrongly presumed that they were the superior rooms. The bed was quite small for a double and wasn't the most comfortable, but it was fine for a couple of nights. It was nice to have our own bathroom which was a good size. Our room overlooked the courtyard at the back of the hotel. Both nights we slept with the window open and had no issue with noise. I will say also, that the hotel was meticulously clean.

A good surprise was the breakfast. It was included in the price of the room and there was LOTS of choice. Cereals, yoghurt, fresh bread, cheese, meats, eggs & pastries.

Didn't really speak to the staff (just because we had no issues) but when checking in and out they were very friendly.

Copenhagen is really expensive so to get 2 nights in a reasonable hotel with breakfast & wifi for £175 (for 2 of us) I thought was great value.

Overall, I had a nice stay here at the SaGa Hotel and would happily come back again.

Came here with 2 friends, we stayed in a triple room for 4 nights (Aug 7th-11th). We chose it because it was a good price (relative to other hotels), central (only a couple minutes walk from the train station), had breakfast included and free wifi. We only had 4 days to cram as much as we could so all we really needed was a bed to sleep in at night (and to stuff ourselves at breakfast, Copenhagen is very expensive). At first I was bothered there were no en suite washrooms but actually it was fine, there is 2 toilets and one shower on the floor and they were usually free when I needed them. I think the only real complaint I have is there is no elevator, walking up 5 flights of stairs with your luggage or after a very tiring day of exploring is not so fun. The doors are very heavy so there is some banging (people who don't care to close them slowly).

Breakfast was good, a selection of fresh breads, jam, cold cuts and cheese, cereal and granola, soft boiled eggs, cucumbers and tomatoes, yogurt and pastries plus juice, coffee and tea. Some fruit would have been nice though.
