“Location, location, location!!”

We recently stayed here for 2 nights. The location was excellent...easy access to everything. Our room overlooked the canal and the views were picture-perfect! We thought the noise would be a problem but it wasn't. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was included, delicious, and we had no complaints. The staff were wonderful...always helpful and friendly. We would absolutely stay here again if/when we go back to Copenhagen!!

Room Tip: We were really happy with our canal-view room. We had our window open all night and it didn't ge...

Stayed here September 2012.
Good location, convenient for metro, car parking just on the street and hard to find.
Rooms and hotel were clean.
Room facilities are a bit basic so not sure how long I would have been able to stay (I was there 1 night) but that's the point of the place.
Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable.

The only downside is the noise - nyhavn is busy at night with the bars and cafes (and drunken revellers from both) until the small hours of the morning. The windows are double glazed and with earplugs it was quiet enough to sleep, but the rooms are small and airless, and it would have been good to have a window open. Ended up getting up at 4am to open the window when it all went quiet...

Made a reservation for one night based on the reviews here on TA and couldn't have picked a better location. Copenhagen is a wonderful city, and Nyhavn is an excellent starting point for walks to see the major sights.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful old building. Although it doesn't have the colours of the buildings across the water at Nyhavn it has a unique style and charm of its own.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. We arrived early on Saturday morning and departed late on Sunday afternoon. On both days before checking in and after checking out it was no problem to leave our luggage at reception.

The rooms - we had a "normal" room - are quite basic but as I have stated in other reviews of city hotels we're there to put our heads down at night only so I'm not complaining; beds are comfortable enough. We had a room facing the side street and the weekend we were there it was quite warm so we had to sleep with the window open. As other reviewers have mentioned it does get quite noisy at night, so I didn't get as good a sleep as I would have wanted but because of previous reviews I was expecting that anyway.

The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet, and a hairdryer. The only complaint I'd like to make here is that it would have been nice if a floor towel was provided for the bathroom.

Breakfast in the morning was excellent: plenty of choice and very good Danish. Staff kept refilling the trays too, very good. And it's a very nice touch to have coffee and tea available throughout the day.

In all, would definitely stay here again in future!

Wonderfully located hotel, former "Seaman's Residence," on a corner with some rooms overlooking the canal - best rooms although there can be some street sounds. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are even more comfortably sized. Delicious breakfast with nice array of choices. Hotel staff are gracious and cannot think of a nicer place to stay pre or post cruise, or just to enjoy the ambiance of Copenhagen.

Room Tip: Rooms on Canal are most enjoyable as long as a little street noise isn't objectionable. When in...

Best location right in the heart of Nyhavn. Helpful staff, comfortable rooms, good value for Copenhagen. Quiet, even being in such a busy area of the city. Traditional Danish breakfast, variety of choices. Will come back here again!

This is a great little hotel on the pretty street by the canal in Nyhavn, Copenhagen. The street is lined with restaurants and the best ice cream shop in Scandinavia is across the road. Five to seven minute easy walk from the metro and in a vibrant neighborhood. We paid extra for a room with a view and it was totally worth it despite the noise from the cafes late into the night. Good breakfast. Small room by American standards but normal for Europe and very clean with everything we needed. Front desk were very helpful.

Our beloved Danish aunt reserved 2 rooms for our family of 4, having known the place for 40 or so years, back when it was primarily a retirement residence for seamen with the occasional empty room rented out to travelers. These days the population is reversed. Although there are a few old-timers in residence, travellers and tourists predominate, with lots of Americans.

Rooms are basic, with a little bit of old-fashioned charm. Bathrooms are oddly designed and tiled, but everything is spotlessly clean. I wish I could get the cleaning staff to visit our home, just once. We were in a corner room with a balcony and wonderful view. For us, the substantial extra charge for the corner was worth it.

The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional, helping us with schedules and cabs, even opening the breakfast an hour early early so we could enjoy it before our early morning plane. They contributed to what could easily become a homey atmosphere (thanks in part to the retired seamen in residence, who like to hang out and chat.)

Location of course is the chief attraction, situated right in the middle of things, with the entire city easily accessable by walking or Metro. Overall, value is excellent and we would certainly return on our next trip, making sure to book well in advance.

Room Tip: We felt the upper floor corner room was worth the premium charge that takes the hotel out of the bud...
