“Excellent value in a good central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2013

We visited for the Eurovision song contest weekend when all the hotels seemed to have put their priced up, or were already full. The Hotel Windsor was still a reasonable price, and was absolutely fine.
The room was basic, but clean, we never had to wait to use the shared bathrooms, and there was enough at the breakfast buffet to keep us full all day. The freshly baked rolls were delicious.
Across the road from the hotel the markets have a wonderful variety of food stalls and on a sunny day it's a good spot for a glass of wine outdoors. The hotel is less than 100 metres away from Norreport station - from here you can take a direct train to the airport or across the bridge to Malmo and onwards into Sweden. Norreport is also on the Metro system.
Other people have mentioned the stairs and lack of lift so it'd be no good for people with mobility problems.

Just planned a city trip 'somewhere' and ended up visiting Copenhagen for a few days (never plan too much things before ...). And what a pleasant surprise ... Also for the stay.

Hotel Windsor is less or more a budget hotel. It's located near to the Norreport, which makes it quite easy to reach from the airport or the train station. It's also not that far located from the city center and most of the attractions really worth to visit, e.g. 1,3 km from the Tivoli Gardens, about less than a km from the Rosenborg Castle, Botanical garden, National Gallery ... (Suggestion: take a map at night ... Quite more easy to find your way back ... Allthough I enjoyed my city tour of one and a half hour for 1,3 km at night... LOL).

The hotel has no 24 reception. After 03.00 PM you can catch up your key at Hotel Jorgensen, about 150m. So there's no real problem. The staff is very correct and friendly and also knows to inform you about the different attractions.

The hotel itself: it's no big luxury or great comfort. But it doesn't spoil the fun. I had a room on the 4th floor. So I had to take the narrow and steep staircase of about 85 steps, cause there's no elevator. But not really a problem. (They tell you honestly about it, so you're warned.) The room itself was quite basic, but cozy. Some small desk, a good bed, some sink, some place to hang up your clothes, and according to me quite big enough. At night it was very calm on the backside (and I think same for front). My room was very clean.

You have some shared facilities. A shower for about 8 rooms. But very practical and clean. You can finish within 5 minutes, so no queus. If really too busy: you can always wash / refresh at the sink in the bathroom. Toilets are very basic ... I mean: rather very narrow ... So be warned if you think you're a bit grown f.t.

Breakfast was basic, but more than I expected for the price. Good coffee, some breads, salami (raw sausage), cheese, Danish Bleu cheese and some marmelade and stuff. Also orange juice was available. But I never take it at morning. (Stayed last year somewhere else in a hotel, same budget, a bit cheaper city: breakfast was rubbish.)

Biggest plusses in my advice: good price / quality, good location, friendly staff, clean rooms, breakfast is ok, ... And very important: no thricks website vs. reality ... Very important. What you see is what you get.

I certainly would recommend this hotel.

Stay away if: luxury on holidays is more important than fun, you like complaining about comfort, you don't feel like sharing a shower (guests seemed all decent), your physical condition doesn't allow stairs, you're into discussing all day long that not well painted thingie in the front corner of the ceiling. --> Take a mobile home LOL.

Have fun, if you book!

PS. Copenhagen is a really nice city!

Staff was very friendly. Location is excellent. The breakfast was satisfactory. I could park on the street, which is cheaper than in the Q-parking under Israel Square, even with the discount that Hotel Windsor gives for Q-parking.

This hotel is located opposite Israels Plads. Rooms are simple with basic equipment. Room are pretty cheap. You can use TV and refrigerator. Some rooms have air condition. Double room cost about 700kr.

The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, the location central and across the street from the MOST amazing fresh food market! What more could you ask for? As long as you don't mind having the toilet and shower down the hall, you'll be quite comfortable here. We were on a long weekend in Copenhagen, but even for a longer stay I would happily return. Only downside was that the "double" bed, as seems typical in many European hotels, is actually two singles pushed together which very abruptly slide apart with body weight in the middle of the bed! Breakfast is basic but fresh and filling enough for a morning's exploration of the city. We'll be back!

The hotel is a 2-3 minute walk from the metro station, even though if you arrive after 3 you need to pick up the key from the other hotel. The previous reviews were very accurate! My room was clean, and the location made it a great value for a first-time visit to Copenhagen. It's also across from a food market which means you have several reasonably priced choices for dinner. The music from the club played at weird times...it was really loud Thursday night, for example, but played only briefly on Friday. The breakfast was juice, coffee or tea, cheeses, toast, jams and crackers, and since it was buffet-style, you could eat as much as you like. Check out was super easy. I would definitely stay here again, particularly for its value of location/price.

Hotel quite cheap for Danemark. Not easy to check in or out: you have to go in another hotel - 200 m away. But we can manage it
Room are small and clean
