Owner description: Learn about Denmark's flora through this extensive collection of plants and fungi. The Botanical Gardens and Museum houses a seed bank and a library that specializes in books about plants and trees. It's also a great place to take a walk. The Botanical Gardens are open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the winter, and every day until 6 p.m. from May through September.

“Enjoyable place to spend a day, beautiful setting.”

We wandered around the Botanical Garden for a couple of hours. It was very pleasant. Beautiful paths, lakes, streams and plants and flowers. Very convenient to the Noreport Metro Station. The cafe was very expensive. About $10 for two sodas!

“A gem in the heart of the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2012

If you are a nature lover, an extensive botanical display awaits you, from the gardens to the tropical house, a global collection of plant and flowers, you can spent all day here educating yourself, visiting this garden.
The lake is an interesting subject, full of carps and a family of red-eared terrapins. The terrapin population was originally kept as pets by residents, but as they outgrew their fish tanks, someone introduced the idea of creating a new home for them, and since then, they have becomed another attraction of the garden.
This is a very tranquil place, less busy and therefore more enjoyable.

“Under-rated and free”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2012

The Copenhagen Botanical Gardens are not mentioned in a lot of guidebooks, which I find puzzling because they are quite nice (and free). The Palm House is the main building and contains a diverse array of tropical plants. There is also a staircase that you can climb up to view the tops of the plants. Outside of the main building, there are other buildings that house cacti, flowers, and other plants. The grounds outside of the Botanical Gardens are also quite nice. If you are visiting the Rosenborg Castle in the morning, this is a good way to kill an hour before the Castle opens at 10 am.

“Oasis of calm in the middle of the city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2012

The botanical gardens is a beautiful and nice park near the Rosenborg castle and the state art museum. The entry is free and it is a quaint little place with lots of plants and winding paths around a beautiful lake. I happened to visit this place in winter and most of the trees were barren but I imagine it will be much more spectacular in the summertime. The only downside was that the whole place is undergoing massive renovations and the dug up grounds after a rainy night totally turned into a muddy mess. That minor gripe aside, I would recommend this.

“Longer opening hours in the summer”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2012

The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen is a small, beautiful, peaceful park in the center of the city. It is part of the old moat system around the ancient city. It is under renovation which is distracting (and has lasted too long), but it will be very nice when done. However, my major complaint here is that this peaceful place closes at 6pm on the beautiful long summer nights, much, much too early, which makes it hard to enjoy when the light is at it's best. Please, in the summer, stay open until 8 or 9 pm. I am sure many tourist and more important, residents would enjoy a stroll there on a nice evening after work.
