Owner description: Experience the historic and atmospheric buildings from different parts of Denmark at The Open Air Museum. You can see impressive and atmospheric buildings, old breeds of domestic animals in the fields and attractive, historic gardens. Take a ride in the horse-drawn carriage and find inspiration in the museum shop. Bring along your family and a picnic basket and enjoy a day at the Open Air Museum.

A great place to visit on a nice day! You can take a horse drawn wagon ride around the site, and can walk around and in the old houses and farms that have been relocated here. The ones we saw had some old tools and furnishings that gave a great view of life back then. There is a cafe that has decent food, and a gift shop with lots of hand made items. If you get the Copenhagen Card, this is one of the places you get in for free.

Seldom have I found one museum that completely describes the culture and history of a country. The Danish Frilandsmuseut in Lyngby (part of the Danish National Museum) is a a 'can't miss' location. Lomg before the USA television show The Amazing Race discovered the location, this was THE place to visit Danish history. Visitors can see the various day-to-day activities of the many areas of Denmark. Whilenthere is a great deal of walking involved, on a pleasant Danish day the tour of the facilities is a pure joy. Farm animals abound, on special occasions there are programs for old and young alike. My favorite was the fresh mill ground rye grain that was provided to everyone. Rhe bread that my wife baked from thIs grain was exce
Tikal.

This is a really interesting open air museum. It really gives you a good idea of how Danish country people, of different classes lived in the past. It's amazing that someone thought to gather these buildings together back in the early 1900s, way ahead of other countries. It's also free!

Frilandsmuseet takes you back in time. The houses and farms have been taking down from where they were and rebuilt at Frilandsmuseet. Quite impressive. It is spacious and very cosy. It is fun to go into the diffirent kind of homes and imagine you are one of the people living there. You can easily spend several hours just walking around as there are many buildings. This is one of the best museums. The entrance fee is for free as it is a part of the Danish National Museum.
