As a regular guest at all the Royal Danish Theatre locations in Copenhagen, this is still my favorite. There is so much history and even though I am a huge fan of the traditional ballet it is also great when I get to experience some of the more experimental groups (both ballet and theatre) who are allowed to challenge us as audience/viewers.
If you are a foreigner visiting I will of course recommend you to watch a Bournoville ballet if in any way possible.

Most plays are in Danish, but enjoy the operas the supreme Danish ballet corps, the old and magnificent inside of the Theatre, maybe the queen or other Royals are also attending this event??..
Not to be missed, make sure to get tickets and take the time to enjoy this magnificent experience!

We did not go to a production here but it has a fabulous setting over the water and I can really recommend it for coffee - not cheap as nothing in Denmark is - but you can refill as often as you like and the atmosphere is very relaxed - a perfect Sunday morning venue after wlking to the Little Mermaid. Brunch was clearly popular but just coffee customers were welcome.

After attending yet an excellent workshop about one of the upcoming performances, we are looking forward to another great season at the "Old Stage" (Gl. Scene) of the Royal Danish Theatre - the main venue for the Ballet with its long tradition for performing the ballets of August Bournonville. In this season (2013-14) it will be possible to experience "Napoli" staged by Hübbe & Englund with a new version of the third act. There will be a (free!) workshop before the premiere. During the season there will also be many other free events at the theatre (check at the website). Among the other performances we look forward to this season is Tharps "Come Fly Away" with songs by Sinatra and a live big band headed by Chris Minh Doky, Mac Millans "Manon" and a guest play from the Marinsky Ballet with the "Swan Lake" and a Fokine programme. The Company has many international top dancers and within the company "Corpus", a group of dancers, which are allowed to make experiments. The ballet also offers Dance2Go for those not being accustomed to ballet (tickets only 200 Danish kr!)
