4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 December 2012

We booked a studio for our family (6 and 9 yrs old girls + parents) and stayed in this hotel/appartment in early December, 2012.
We had some hassle with the key which was in a safety box, they had changed the safety box without noticing and there we arrived very late due to delay with the flight, two little girls compeletely exhausted and in the safety box there was no key. After the phone call which of course costed us some since we were using our foreign gsm-phones we found the key.

The appartment was very basic but clean enough. Minus comes from the beds: girls bed was not done which was a great disappointment when arriving late with two very tired girls. Adults double bed was far too soft, the basis of the bed is clearly too old and needs to be quickly replaced. With a man 2 m tall and 100+ kg the bed was not suitable.

It was difficult to know beforehand what kind of equipment there are in the appartment. They should list the available stuff in their web page. There were no bowls and only few coffe cups. Glasses were all different but 4 all together. There was an owen, 2 plates for cooking and microwave. Refridgerator was very warm so I cleaned it, took away around 2 cm thick ice and turned it to be cold. After that it worked well. When washing the dishes the drier stuff was absolutely disguisting so I cleaned it first.

Electrical wiring was horrifying. DVD did not work and no instruction whatsoever. TV worked so we improved our Danish during 3 day visit :-)

The flat should have some sort of instructions for TV/DVD, refridgerator and about the keys. Where to leave the keys etc.

It was difficult to find this hotel. Therefore a short notice to the following guests. When coming from the railway station, take bus 6A and get off at the Copenhagen museum and walk to the same direction that the bus continues. In the corner where there is a flower shop and the street is called Dannebrogsgade turn to the left and then you can see the sign HOTEL. Westend street is very difficult to find otherways and it is a fully L-shape street...

The appartment was okay, clean enough and good location. The glass doors seem to be quite difficult with the children, our 2 banged their heads several times. If you do not weight 100 kg, the double bed can be just-and-just okay but with back broblems cannot be recommended. We consider that this hotel can be recommended to our friends who would like to enjoy the city and pay not that much of the hotel. With small changes the owners could make the stay even better. The photographs are clearly not taken from the studio appartment apart from one (and there are more furniture added since the photo was taken).

We missed the following: instructions on how to leave the key and where, clock on the wall, beds done to the amount of guests, bowls and soup plates, list of equipments in each flat, better description how to come to the hotel (to take the Dannebrog-street), some more cleaning in the kitchen, electronical wiring to be fixed, DVD to be fixed plus instructions on how to use it, a carpet in the hall to avoid the water coming in to the room, a carpet in the toilet floor.

Room Tip: Maybe the bigger apartments are better equiped than the studio.

Stayed here back in May 2012, there was four of us in a two bedroom apartment, the apartments are simple but have everything you need for a short stay in Copenhagen. The people looking after the apartments where lovely and very helpful. Its only a short distance form central station and there is a large supermarket near by. As Copenhagen is an expensive place these apartments are very reasonable, I would defo stay here again.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2012

Stayed here in the Penthouse Apartment for three nights in September and to be honest the place needs a bit of work and t.l.c.

The good points - It was spacious and had all the amenities you would need from an apartment, also the American man we spoke to on check-in was very friendly and helpful. Great Location though with everything you need in walking distance.

The bad points- No curtains or blinds in the apartment. When taking a shower (which doesn't work at all very well, it sprays off at completely the wrong angle and needs to be fixed) you stand naked in front of a gym full of people in the opposite building, who can see right into the shower, may be some peoples idea of heaven, but it wasn't mine. And with so many doors, windows without blinds/curtains when its light you are awoken,

Also the walls, stairs etc need a thorough clean, there is black marks everywhere and it doesn't give off a very welcoming first impression. Also the so-called Attic room is basically a mattress stuffed into a cubby-hole which you have to access by ladder, not good if you are claustrophobic. The Kettle didn't work and although this was replaced, this should be checked prior to arrival. Also there was nothing in the apartment left as a welcome guest, a bottle of wine or some coffee would not have gone amiss.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2012

We stayed in the Penthouse Apartment (top floor of the building) for four nights in June 2012.

Positive points:
- very spacious apartment
- small outdoor terrace - not much of a view but a nice space to sit out
- good facilities (nice modern cooker with oven, microwave, fridge / freezer with ice dispenser, dishwasher, washing machine, good sized TV).
- Decor is minimalist but quite adequate, apartment was clean.
- Location is OK, fairly close to central station (15 mins walk) though a bit far from the tourist sights downtown.
- Lots of good food shops and other shops nearby.

Negative points:
- no curtains or blinds so you wake up with the dawn, which in June is about 3.30 am.
- Not very appealing on arrival: the stairwell up to the apartment is grotty, with a few very old and rickety chairs.
- Not exactly welcoming - When you arrive you don't see anyone, and all you pick up in your locker is a key, your bill and a piece of paper with a schedule of seven cleaning tasks that "has to be done by YOU before leaving the apartment" along with the price for each (doing none costs you 650 Kroner which seems more than a fair price) - see picture. Although the terms and conditions do say that the apt had to be left in the same state as when it was taken, the approach seemed very heavy handed and was a thoroughly unwelcome surprise that put me in a bad mood for the entire stay. When we left, someone came up to look and we agreed what had and hadn't been done - be warned that you're expected to do a pretty thorough job, (e.g.) make sure you get all the limescale marks off the shower unit.
- Furnishings are very cheap, low quality, and frankly rather tatty and in poor condition - in stark contrast to the modern and good quality electrical equipment. EG no wardrobes, just cheap ikea shelves in one of the bedrooms with much of the veneer coming off; flooring is some kind of vinyl that is now showing lots of dirty marks; beds are cheap IKEA makes and one of them is starting to fall apart
- Double beds are extremely narrow (140 cm, only 20 cm wider than a single)
- The claim that the apartment sleeps nine is a bit of a joke - two people are supposed to sleep in what is described as the "loft" but is actually the top of the cleaning cupboard. Lift your mattresses up and doss down if you want to (climbing up and down a wooden ladder to get there). Adequate for students.
- Short of some kitchen utensils (only two mugs for example)
- Some of the cooking equipment was not clean (presumably because they rely on the visitors to do most of the cleaning)
- Apartment is on fifth floor and there is no lift, so it's hard work with your bags!

Overall this was an OK place to stay for four of us, but for the money (ca. £300 / US$500 a night) I was expecting just somewhat better quality furnishings and a slightly more welcoming approach. It wouldn't take much.
