It's a nice fountain but you wouldn't make your way there just for that. If you're doing a long walk, it's one of many lovely sights to take in and as nice a fountain as it is, it's only a fountain. Sadly I only had my guide book to tell me about it. Perhaps I would have benefitted from a little more information - and it didn't help that it was a miserable grey day when I went. But still ...

We came across this fountain on the way to the Little Mermaid. It's worth a stop and a few photos, but its design won't jump out at you as something truly exceptional.

Fully agree that the Gefion fountain is way much impressive than the Little Mermaid. You can't missed it if you are going to see the Little Mermaid (that you might as well see since you are so close). Another extraordinary gift by the Carlsberg family to Copenhagen!

Near the harbor and the Marble church you will find this beautiful fountain dedicated to the nordic God Gefion. The fountain is large with tiers of water and designs. Take some time to look at it and notice the wonderful detail. A walk along this promenade which is directly across from the opera house is worth the effort.

The fountain is a beautiful sculpture, although overshadowed by the much visited mermaid, this is nevertheless a must visit, surrounded by beautiful park and waterfront.
