“Good value ”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

I stayed here three nights with my girlfriend. This is a hotel without gimmicks, but with a clear focus on the most important things: good price, good location, and a good bed. Breakfast and things like luggage storage costs extra, and the rooms don't have phones or minibars. Overall very happy with our stay.

We chose this hotel as we went on a busy bank holiday weekend, and most other hotels were full, and also because it was slightly less astronomical in price than the rest of Copenhagen's hotels. On arriving however we found the hotel covered in scaffolding, with building works going on. Had to queue at check-in even though the hotel was not busy, and the receptionist was functionally polite and efficient, if not charming.
The room was small, and compact, but ok, and had the basics that you needed. We chose the top level of room, a heaven room, as it promised to be the best positioned, with the best view. That was a complete waste of time, as the only view you got was straight into the office block opposite! Definitely not worth paying extra for. We asked for a baby cot, but this cost 10 Kroner a day extra, which seemed a bit steep given we were already paying more for the room.
The worst was yet to come however, as the next morning we woke up and opened the curtains to find bricklayers on the ledge outside our window building a wall and drilling! See attached picture! Not what you expect when getting out of the shower. The drilling was so loud it scared our baby son who would not stop crying. Also the corridors were full of Russian builders transporting paint and other materials up and down in the customer lifts. We went down to reception to complain, but the receptionist said there were no other rooms to move to. When we said it should have clearly stated on the website that the hotel was not completed, he shrugged and said hey, what are you going to do, these things happen in the hotel trade! Not at good hotels they don't!
On the final day, we checked out and asked if we could leave our luggage for a couple of hours, normally not a problem in a hotel, and they directed us to the luggage room, which had pay lockers. That's the problem with so called cheap hotels, all the extras cost money. Also you needed your room key to get into the luggage room, which you don't have after you have checked out. And if you had a room key, you wouldn't need the locker in the first place!
Other than that, the hotel was at least clean and functional, and in a good central location, but those are the only positives we could think of.
On returning home we complained to the hotel, and eventually received an apology, and a refund of our money, but it still wouldn't persuade me to stay there again.

Room Tip: Do not pay extra for a top floor, the view is exactly the same as the hotel is only six floors high...

Pallisgaard, Direktør at Wakeup Copenhagen, Borgergade, responded to this review, 6 August 2014
Dear Delory123, thank you for your feedback on your stay in May 2014. We opened the hotel on May 1st and I admit that in the first period some construction finishing was still going on. Today, everything is working fine and many guests have stayed with us this summer. Later this year we will expand with 157 new rooms in the building next door. I am glad that you received the apology and the refund from the startup of the hotel. We would be pleased to welcome you back in Copenhagen in our new premises. Kind regards, Lars Pallisgaard, General Manager.

Booked the hotel for a 5-night stay in CPH.
Checkin was very efficient. Getting off the lift on the 3rd floor there was a smell reminding us of a goat's shed. The room, however, was "odour-free", clean and tidy. The room size is on the small side but the hotel is transparent about it so it shouldn't come as a surprise. Given Copenhagen prices, the breakfast is good value with a choice of juices, three types of cereals, about 4 types of bread and a selection of salami, cheese, fresh fruits and jams/honey as well as hard boiled eggs.
Staff at the restaurant is efficient and friendly, paticularly Ronny!
The business center/lounge is very cosy and invites to hang out before leaving/after returning to the hotel. The express checkout means that you simply drop your room keys/cards in a glass bowl and you're done...
Would definitely return.

We stayed one night at this hotel in July before our cruise.

Hotel is new and clean, staff are helpful. They checked us in early in the morning without extra charges. Lobby is big and has many seating spaces to relax, and there are several computers with internet access - so if you do not have a labtop of your own, you may still access the internet at this hotel. Wireless internet is free of charge anywhere in the hotel. The room is small though.

Location is convenient - less than 10 minutes walk to Metro station, and about 20 minutes walk to the Little Mermaid and you can pass some other attractions on the way. There are many restaurants nearby.

The hotel has a restaurant only for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was ok - convenient but does not have much choices. It cost 70DKK/pp.

Also, luggage storage are charged for 20DKK per storage space which may hold more than one suitcases (depending on the size of the luggage).

Since everything is very expensive in Europe, and staying at such a centrally located hotel at a very reasonable price (700DKK for a double room) is no doubt a steal in Copenhagen in the "hot" month of July.

Will definitely consider to return if we visit Copenhagen again, or recommend to friends.

Brand new hotel in the center of Copenhagen. You can take the metro directly from the airport to the hotel ("Kongens Nytorv" station). The hotel is very similar to the first Wakeup Copenhagen hotel in Copenhagen so expect the same room layout and level of service.

Room Tip: Probably a good idea to get a room facing away from the street. A lot of bars in the area and - well...

Stayed here for 2 nights with my son on a trip to copenhagen. Nice clean hotel and great location.
Thoughts.... small room was very warm days and the air con not that powerful. House keeping very good... Had a fire alarm at 1.30am and hotel emptied out very slowly via fire exit from 6th floor ... Seemed to be a false alarm but no explanation from hotel and very poorly managed.

This hotel is all about location because you get a real feel for the city just walking around, nothing is far from the hotel and there are some great restaurants in the area. I found the staff helpful but not very friendly compared to people around the city and in restaurants, where they were very friendly indeed. The rooms were tiny but well thought-out and functional, the breakfast was good value for money. The big downside for me is that they had no normal luggage room and we had to put our stuff in a locker in the basement, and there weren't anything like enough lockers... and of course you had to pay for them. I think this hotel would benefit from a more human touch, but there seemed to be a minimum staff so they had no time for anything.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are quiet
