Stayed here for 5 nights on business trip. A small hotel located along a busy main road but within 10 mins walk to the famous Stroget pedestrian shopping area. I booked a single room and arrived around 4pm at the hotel. The receptionist was friendly and the waiting time was very minimal. The room has a super size single bed and even though it was a little crammed it was sufficient. The room was clean but the pillow was too soft for my liking. The breakfast was served at the lele café at lobby level and it served basic western breakfast. From 1100 hrs onwards this place serves Vietnam dishes. The biggest plus point of the hotel is its Environmental conscious approach and how it rewards its guests for helping out in its aspiration. A voucher of DKK 100 was issued to guest who opts not to have their room cleaned. The voucher can be redeemed at the lele café for lunch or dinner. Love this approach! Bravo..

On my last night of stay there I was given a suite on the 5th floor. The vibrant colours of the room will make any heart beat with excitement and it is well adorned with designer furniture and fixtures. Love this room very much.

Room Tip: Since the hotel is facing a major street, if you are a light sleeper you may want to request rooms w...

The staff at the Hotel Alexandra are wonderful - well at least all whom we met during our stay. What a great hotel to have so many staff members who are so nice! Our decision on this hotel was based on proximity to central train station (not the Metro) which is where the train from the airport arrives. (Note - Metro trains also go from the airport but we were on the overground train). The hotel is on H C Anderson Boulevard which means it's in quite a central location in Copenhagen.

After a lovely staff member checked us in, we went to our room which we loved. This is not a five star hotel, or even an 4 star one but we found the room to be a very good size, lovely and clean and well decorated with some nice Danish design touches which gives it a bit of flair. In fact this hotel celebrates Danish designers. We were in just a simple room but it still had designer touches - but further up the room scale, there are many other rooms which are much more designer rooms. Our room had double glazing on the windows and even a double room door - which meant we heard nothing once in our room!

We had a desk, two small relaxing chairs and small table and a wardrobe. The bathroom was very small but perfectly formed and I really liked it! The shower worked really well and it had lovely but simple amenities - a large-size delicious smelling shower and hair wash that was in the shower (rather than individual amenities). There were the basics to make a cup of tea or coffee as well.

The lobby area is small but still it's a nice place to sit and wait for friends or read a newspaper. The internet worked well too.

Attached to the hotel is a Vietnamese restaurant - but it's sort of a 'fast food' restaurant but the food was delicious!

Would we stay here again - absolutely! We felt very at home here and it worked for us. Not quite sure why there are a couple of not so great reviews of this hotel as we're pretty critical of hotels and have certainly stayed in many around the world, but for the money, I thought this was just great!

Wonderful hotel. Very 'Copenhagen' with design furniture scattered about the place. Location is central and very easy to get around either via walking or with public transport. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, offering good suggestions for dinner and where to shop. The hotel's app was useful as well as the map did not rely on internet connection.

Dear Brett O,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review - we truly appreciate it.

We are happy to hear that you noticed our designer furniture and that you found our location as well as our app to be of use to you - it most certainly has its benefits being located in the city centre of Copenhagen.

Hopefully we can welcome you to the Hotel Alexandra again in the future!

We had a wonderful stay. We bought a 72 hour transport pass from the train station at the airport. The hotel is just a short walk from Vesterport train stop on H C Anderson Boulevard. The Alexandra is clean, central and stylish and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is also a green option to not have daily house keeping - for this they give you vouchers that you can use in the Vietnam street food restaurant adjoined to the hotel. We didn't take up the breakfast options as there are so many places offering fantastic brunches that are like a smorgasbord on a plate. We loved our stay and would recommend to family and friends

Terrible rooms and uncomfortable beds
A kettle and some strange tea bags in the room but no coffee of coffeecups. Seems pointless.
A sink you could not access due to its positioning. The plug in the sink did not work so you could not drain the basin after use.
Wierd restaurant serving breakfast but lets not go there. The whole experience was one to be missed unfortunately.

Great location, 10 mins stroll from the station and close to all the central attractions in Copenhagen. The retro Danish furniture theme gives the hotel that added degree of interest. We found our room (Double retro superior) to be clean, stylish and comfortable. The bathroom was a little disappointing by comparison, but fine nonetheless. The staff are really friendly and helpful. My only wish would be that the adjoining restaurant would serve Danish food, and not Vietnamese. Still, there are lots of great places to eat and drink within a short walk. Good value for a city centre hotel too. Recommended, and yes, we would return.

Room Tip: Maybe choose a room hot facing the road (the views aren't that spectacular)... although Copenhag...

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your great review and for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers.

We are happy to hear that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful and that you enjoyed your room. As the building itself is a historic building, the bathrooms are not that large in size, mostly due to the fact that we have to strive to keep the building intact as it originally was, to preserve the history and ambience - but we are glad to hear that it was sufficient for you nonetheless.

We hope to see you again in Copenhagen and at the Hotel Alexandra!

This is a lovely hotel. Its crammed with Danish style and every room is different with glorious examples of Scandinavian style from across the decades. We had a 50's room which felt like walking back in time.
The check in staff were enthusiastic about their hotel and loved talking about the designer items in the lobby. It was so different to a chain hotel. The Alexandra is on a busy road but even with a room at the front it was quiet, thanks to the double glazing. It might be noisier in the summer, though.
Breakfast is pricey, but extensive , so stoke up for the rest of your day. An alternative is Bjorns Bar two streets away( just cross the road ) where they do a nice bacon and scrambled eggs.
Position is great. Easy walk from railway station. All the main shopping streets are in easy reach as are restaurants and cafés.The famous Tivoli is down the road, and the marvellous Glyptotek Art Gallery 5 minutes away.
If you are in the city for work or leisure this hotel will be a great place to stay, and since it is run by a charitable foundation , all profits go to help Danish hotel staff down on their luck.
