The Copenhagen Island Hotel is located about 20 min walking from the Central Rail station, 3 minutes by Taxi from the same location, about 60mts from the regional train station, which has about 4 different lines that passes by on there way to the Central Train Station which is only one stop, so location although not being in the center, is not a problem; Local buses run 24 hrs a day and taxis are on call 24 hrs a day, in 5 min they are at location. The hotel is next to a shopping mall which has movie theaters and well assorted shops, but is not noisy or crowded.
The hotel is very modern looking property build by the river bank on a artificial Island those the name off the property. Access from the street there couple off steps, they have a cargo elevator on the side for the luggage is needed, and upon request they will help you, as for disable gust I did not see a entrance but being a new building and Danish they must have one (to those never being in Denmark there modern construction buildings are a work of art and designe).
Front desk personal very pleasant helpful, check in and out is a breeze.
Room: The room is very clean the floor is Parquet which is so much clean than carpet wall to wall like most hotels have, very modern looking, that say they are small than what one is regually use to in other places like the USA, to be fare it is about the size of a room in Manhattan or San Francisco down town standard room, apparently that is the standard size room in Denmark, so if you come alone its ok, if you are a couple or more that is going to be some what crowded( to be fare I am describing a Standard room, cannot tell how are the category rooms) there is a very small closet, no safe in the rooms, need to rent a safe in front desk at a price off 25DKK for the entire stay. They have WiFi free internet in the rooms and entire property. There were 2 major problems for me in the entire stay, if you suffer from bad back there mattress are a Very Soft one sinks in them not Orthopaedic one bit , at the request they put a plank off wood between the mattress and the bed box those improving some what, but if you are accustom to a firm or semi firm mattress is going to be a problem also there size is twin or two twines side by side, again don't turn around too much. The second problem for me were the black out blinders, in the winter that is not a problem but in the summer its a major issue, as light starts to me out around 3:30am by 6am the sun is up there. The black outs are modern looking blinders that allow light to go through so if you are a light sleeper be worn. Rooms are quite, if you get the back off the hotel rooms you will get a nicer view off the canal also the river rooms some have a very small balcony, the front rooms look towards the city, road, railway, which is ok if you are only there for the room.
Breakfast: The breakfast is complete, it had assorted breads ( Danish Bread is Excellent) some Danish Pastries, cold meats, cheese, cereals, fruites, Scramble eggs, Bacon, sausages, assorted teas, instant hot chocolate and regular filter coffe on the tables. Everything is self service even the silverware they will only clean the table and bring you milk and refill for the coffe po; Again can't complain.
They have a Business center, if you need to do your web check in one can do it free off charge and just email the boarding pass to front desk and they will gladly print it out for you.
Overall Staff are very helpful and pleasant, other than the Mattress issue its a good property to stay if you want to be near the city but not in the center.
