“Great choice in a lovely city”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

Stayed at the Island hotel last week end Mar 22 23 two rooms on top floor facing town and station .Reception excellent very warm welcome, provided us with lots of useful info, restaurant service also great glad we booked breakfast in advance. The rooms themselves were also spot on the only thing missing was tea and coffee making facilities. Its dead easy to get to and from the airport and also a nice walk in and out of town centre.Would highly recommend and also stay again.

Room Tip: high floor worked for us.

Thank you for your kind review. We are happy that you found our hotel, service and surroundings satisfactory. If you had asked for a tea/coffee set at the reception, we would gladly have brought it to your room. Thank you so much for recommending us. We hope to welcome you back in the future.

I only stayed one night but really enjoyed my room. The lighting, bed and bathroom were all very efficient and nicely done. My room had a small balcony overlooking the water which was a bonus. I did not eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on the food. I would recommend for a business traveler.

Stayed for three nights 6th to 9th. 5th floor superior room overlooking water. The harbour restaurant is lovely ,bright and airy ..bet its fab in the Summer!
Our deal included breakfast which was good. We didn't eat a meal in restaurant as a bit pricey!
However the hotel is right next door to a wonderful shopping centre which has an excellent choice of places to eat, all at good prices. Try Panorama restauarant 49Dkk buffet before 4pm and 79Dkk after 4pm (Excellent)
There is also a multiplex cinema showing films in English, which makes up for limited English TV in rooms.
Advice re transfer from airport.... Taxis expensive! The train is easy and only 36Dkk each. You can use the same ticket to take the extra one stop from the Copenhagen Central Station, which is then a 5 min walk, otherwise it's about 15 mins from main station.

Outstanding design. Location: 20 minutes walking, 5 minutes cycling from the Centrum. Excellent breakfast buffet. Rooms a little bit small but probably matching Danish standards. They ask for 200DK for water view but not sure if it is worth it since there is nothing "magical" about it.
Free and fast internet collection all over the Hotel. Very quiet area surrounded by new buildings and modern architecture.
Room service finishes at 22.00, I see this as one of the reasons to drop one star. Overall I definitely recommend it. Ask for high floor rooms.

Our room is overlooking the marina and although not very big has everything you'll need for a short city break. The reception staff gave us such a warm welcome on our arrival and continue to go out of their way to help whenever we have a sightseeing question. The hotel provides tea and coffee facilities if you choose a superior room. Toiletries are replenished daily, if you like perfumed smellies then take your own. Comfy beds with lovely bedding. Good hair dryer and plenty of lighting and mirrors in bathroom and bedrooms. Breakfast, dinner and staff excellent. Train station a few hundred meters outside running every 10 mins to the centre and there's a big shopping mall Fisketorvet next door with lots of restaurants offering western and eastern food. If you're sightseeing take very comfy shoes or trainers. Hop on hop off sightseeing bus and canal trip is well worth the money 450 DK for 2 people (about £25 each). As always I packed too many clothes !! We're here in March, and a scarf cap and gloves is the most valuable kit that I've packed, dress code in general seems to be casual and sporty. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This place was a good one. Nice (and expensive) restaurant by the water and city lights... perfect for late night drinks. Good breakfast at the hotels full-of-light restaurant. And there is a huge new shopping center right next to the hotel. Good place to look for reasonable priced clothes and cheap lunches. One of those canal boats goes right by the hotel, so you can just hop in from there. Rooms were of course very compact sized, very clean and very well air conditioned. I'm pretty sure no one will be dissapointed here. Oh, and a bus goes pretty close (50m) from the hotel straight to the city center. Bueno.

I stayed at the Copenhagen Island Hotel from 22.2.2014-23.2.2014 in a superior room with view over the harbor. I stayed on the top floor(5.th floor) which is highly recommendable because of the better view over the water. Some of the rooms even have a small balcony, mine didn't but I would recommend that during the summertime. My room had a huge bathtub, which was very nice. The beds are by far the best ones I have tried on a hotel. Soft but not too soft. I slept like a kitten on a hood.

The rooms are not that big, but are very tidy and neat and have floor to ceiling windows with excellent views over the harbor and the Copenhagen open air swimbath, which is open during the summertime. The water in Copenhagen harbor is so clean that you can swim in it like in the ocean, due to a total water rehabilitation programme the Copenhagen City Council started more than a decade ago.

The hotel has a great fitness center, with one cross trainer, one treadmill, two bikes and a lot of free weights, and a freetrainer as well. They also have a nice sauna and grat changing facilities. The fitnessroom is located at the 5.th floor with views over the inner harbor. The fitness room is supported with 4 40. inch lcd-tv's that you can use separately while training.

If you want to stay in my city, Copenhagen, and want to stay with comfort, have superior views of the harbor side, enjoy great shopping possiblities next to the hotel with "Fisketorvet" shopping mall and have easy access to all the exiting things in the Copenhagen main area, this hotel absolutely have my best recommendations.

Hans Stryger

Room Tip: Go for rooms on the fifth floor, they have the by far best views over the harbor. Standard rooms do...
