Room 502 had a backed up drainage problem - we couldn't use the tub and the sink because it would not drain properly. The bathroom floor flooded when we tried to use it and we had to use towels to stop the water from coming out of the bathroom. When I complained to reception about it, the man on duty on saturday night (2000H, 17 May 2014) assured us that they will take care of the problem the following day but could not move us to another room. He however let us use the bathroom in room 616 which was all right with us despite the inconvenience since we had already unpacked things at room 502.

Since it was a Sunday the following day, the drain was still not fixed but we were allowed to still use room 616 which was still fine with us. Today is 19 May 2014, 1420H and as far as I know, the drain is still not fixed. This would have been just fine with us still if the lady at reception when I approached her to follow up on the problem was not so arrogant and defensive- instead, she was emphatic that we could not put our things in room 616 which we did not in fact do except for a few toiletries and I used the table since I decided to stay in the room to work since I figured that they would be fixing the problem in room 502. She did not apologize for the inconvenience at all and instead even emphasized that normally we would have paid for the use of room 616 which does not make sense at all since it was not our fault that the drain would not work. Had we insisted on using the bathroom in room 502, it would have flooded the whole room.

I tried to explain to her that since we were checking out the following morning 20 May 2014, we would prefer to just stay in room 502 even if the drain still did not work as long as we can use the bathroom in room 616. I insisted on having use of room 616 just in case the problem is not fixed and she eventually obliged but not after telling me that SHE WAS DOING US A FAVOR which is ridiculous because they should have given us a room with no problems at all since the first day of our stay.

Aside from the drain, the 'cold' faucet in the sink did not work and we did not have a trash can in the bathroom. The carpets in the rooms are worn and the beds are lumpy. The wifi is all right but I've had faster and more stable connection at another hotel (Hotel Du Nord where I stayed for 2 nights - 08 May to 10 May 2014, prior to my stay at Richmond Hotel). There is no coffee/tea making facilities in the room and neither can one get any hot water anywhere in the hotel.

The breakfast is so so ..i've had better breakfast at my previous hotel in Copenhagen. The shower in room 616 is very weak.

Generally, the hotel is old and the facilities are antiquated. I will post pictures of the bathroom later.

Room Tip: If you should insist in staying at this hotel, avoid room 502 where the bathroom drain don't wor...

Was here for a work trip. The location was good for evening forays into town, and perfect for the parks and lakes to take a walk around.

Room was on the fifthfloor at the back, so a shared balcony and terrible views were order of the day. I should say this was more or less the cheapest hotel in the area. The room was basic, with stains on the carpet, walls, bed valance and the chair fabrics. There was no kettle or iron in the room, though the latter could be borrowed from reception.

Restaurant only served breakfast which was fine. There is a netto close by for cheap snacks and supplies.

Best part was the was the bike hire, which included a tour (in common with a lot of other hotels).

Room Tip: ask for something at the front if the shared balcony is not your thing.

We had booked 2 family rooms for a group of 8. We had adjacent rooms which was really convenient. The rooms were fairly small for 4 people, but not overly cramped.
The room and bathroom were both clean however I did notice a couple of stains on the bed throws.
The room itself is basic with no additional facilities such as tea & coffee, iron, safe or spare pillows/towels but considering the price compared to other hotels in Copenhagen this was expected. There was a flat screen tv and toiletries in the bathroom.
My bed was next to the window and I could hear a lot of traffic noise until the early hours of the morning.
The staff were helpful and friendly and assisted with requests such as providing an ice bucket for drinks and ordering taxis and were patient with members of our party all paying off their hotel bill separately.
We didn't eat at the restaurant so no comment on that.
The location is fantastic, walking distance to City Hall, Tivoli Gardens and areas with good nightlife as well as metro/train stations.
The only other point to mention is that guests need to provide a card to have the room payment blocked at check in.
Overall a comfortable and reasonably priced stay in a great location and helpful staff.

Stayed here on a room-only basis to attend the Eurovision Song Contest. Good location, close to Vesterport suburban railway station and five minutes walk from the city centre attractions. The room was very basic, nothing much more to say about it, but it served its purpose. I would say the standard of the hotel is two-star at best.

Stayed here for Eurovision week. Had twin bedded room. Upon arrival we were allocated twin room on 5th floor at back of hotel with shared balcony outside, which actually made us feel unsafe. Room was dirty, radiator falling apart, bits on floor, bathroom, well lets call it shower room, gross. Wardrobe, if you could call it that only had two coat hangers.Went to reception and was allocated another room on 2nd floor at front of hotel.

Room on 2nd floor at front of hotel (although it smelt awful, so opened window for a few hours) was a bit better, had six coat hangers. Bathroom, well walk in shower area was filthy, deep mould around tiling (which was coming away) and, flooor dirty and behind toilet filthy as were walls in bedroom area. Sink had no plug and don't know when it was properly cleaned - dreadful.

Went out and bought cleaning products for bathroom (no point in complaining to reception, they see no problem), but mould and dirt just came away from tiles when trying to clean - not a pretty sight! In the end we did not shower as were sure we would have caught infection on feet from floor or even worse. It really is bad. Eventually booked out early and booked into Radisson which has high standards of hygiene (to be able to have clean shower was amazing!). I think standard hygiene is a must.

Apart from above, breakfast was good. Hotel staff vary, some ok, others not.

Definitely would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you have to stay there have front facing room.

If you are considering whether to book into the Richmond ..? DO!! It's great I went for my birthday with my mum & friend we shared a triple room. Very comfortable & very clean. Hairdryer rubbish though! The breakfast was included & better than most European fare. The 2 things I rate most highly are location & staff. Take the Tivoli exit at the train station turn left & basically go in a straight line. When you see the cinema (pretty painted building) bear left & it's just after the Netto. The staff speak excellent English & afforded us all well with information & support. You don't need a Copenhagen card. It's all there on foot! Take a Berlitz Copenhagen guide book & you will be fine. On our first day we had a full day sightseeing on foot & saw everything! The 2nd day the weather wasn't so good so we went to the National Museum of Denmark, which was excellent & free! The Town Hall is also free & houses art exhibitions, the Eurovision 'keys' for 2014 & the Verdensur clocks, which if you have a modicum of interest in engineering you will enjoy. Our 3rd day we took the train from central station to Malmo in Sweden, where we visited a castle & did a walking tour provided to us by the tourist office in Malmo. What a lovely place well worth a visit, approx. £18 return. Our final day we went to the Carlsberg brewery, which is truly outstanding. We went by metro from outside the hotel, the receptionist informed us how to get there, but quite simply it takes you straight through, though it's a good 20 minute walk from the metro to Carlsberg. It's £8 entrance fee which includes 2 small beers, we had lunch in their café which was excellent, comprising of local delicacies of fish. Getting to & from the airport is very easy into central Copenhagen takes about 15 minutes, costing about £5 return. Finally we ate all 3 nights at the Axelborg which is just at the back of the cinema, & between the Tivoli Gardens entrance. Excellent Danish restaurant & bar, very traditional & good food. The menu is a crowd pleaser, we ate something different each evening. Their house special stew is very tasty as is the chicken & steak. A main course & drink came to £22. A pint of beer ranges between £5 - £8 so pricey, but as there is that handy Netto 3 doors down from the Richmond we retired to our hotel room in the evening & had a beer in there. All in all a very successful trip, which didn't cost a fortune & was very enjoyable. We were disappointed the Tivoli Gardens were closed as was LEGOLAND in Billund.
