Description: Conditori La Glace is the oldest and probably best confectionary in Denmark. Founded in the middle of old Copenhagen on the 8th of October 1870, it has through six generations delivered joy and quality to Copenhagen and its visitors. It is an experience to visit the beautiful old rooms located in Skoubogade 3. La Glace has a lot to offer, including good taste, traditions, history, as well as quick and qualified service. You can choose to enjoy the confections on location or bring the cakes home with you for coffee. Alternatively, we can deliver to your door. We hope that after seeing what we have to offer you will feel like visiting our confectionary, tasting our products, and making use of our many services. We are looking forward to welcoming you to La Glace.

“Simply the best”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

This is the oldest and the best pastry shop and cafe in Copenhagen. And surprisingly it has retained the same quality of its pastry over the years. Lots of local people come on their weekends, which is always a good sign. Here you can buy pastry, tarts, cakes, macaroons as a take-away or get a table inside or outside and enjoy them with a cup of excellent coffee brought in a coffee pot like it should be! Do not forget to ask for additional whipped cream for your coffee and enjoy the experience. I certainly did.
At the entrance you need to take a numbered ticket and while you are waiting for your number to be called either select your pastry from the display in the window or take the full menu and read the descriptions.

“Good but not great and expensive too!”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

Nice cakes, although we had better in Budapest last year, and the interior is nothing really special but the killer is the cost which we thought well over the top.

“Very good cakes and nice place”
Reviewed 15 April 2014 via mobile

A bit afraid when we saw the queue but it was really nice place with a cosy decoration and the cakes are really good.
It was a bit special to recieve a number then be sit. Don't worry choose what you want then even if your number is already passed go order.

“This is a 'must do' for all visitors to Copenhagen”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

Conditori La Glace has been around since 1870 and is a bit of a tradition in Copenhagen. They serve a superb range of cakes and pastries and traditional coffee, hot chocolate and tea - not an espresso or skinny latte in sight.
There are queues to get a table from the moment it opens to the time it shuts and it is worth the wait, believe me!
I was taken there as a treat by my girlfriend and it was the highlight of our visit to Copenhagen. I opted for the hot chocolate to go with my cake and although the drinks are expensive the hot chocolate was the best I have ever tasted and you can your jug refilled again free of charge if you can manage more. As the jug has the equivalent of two cups in it, I don't think they are often taken up on the offer.
This was a wonderful experience and one that I think will be difficult to replicate anywhere else.

“Great cakes, expensive and super busy”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

As a fan of Sarah Bernhardt, I was attracted to this place after seeing a cake named after her in the window. I had no idea of the cafe's reputation. I came back a few days later to queue up for a chance to taste these treats. There is always a queue outside this place - it is difficult as a foreigner to work out why you are queueing etc so I had to ask someone how it works. Once you get inside, you are ushered to a table and given a number, you then wait for your number to come up and you can go to the counter to order. The cake was sensational - a base of macaroon, filled with chocolate mousse and topped with chocolate. So the product is fantastic - it's just the business of getting inside and then sitting at very cramped tables where you know you need to get done so the next person can have the experience. It is very expensive.
