Description: Conditori La Glace is the oldest and probably best confectionary in Denmark. Founded in the middle of old Copenhagen on the 8th of October 1870, it has through six generations delivered joy and quality to Copenhagen and its visitors. It is an experience to visit the beautiful old rooms located in Skoubogade 3. La Glace has a lot to offer, including good taste, traditions, history, as well as quick and qualified service. You can choose to enjoy the confections on location or bring the cakes home with you for coffee. Alternatively, we can deliver to your door. We hope that after seeing what we have to offer you will feel like visiting our confectionary, tasting our products, and making use of our many services. We are looking forward to welcoming you to La Glace.

“Overpriced”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

This bakery is so beautiful, the cakes absolutely delicious but the coffee horrible. I recommend they buy an espresso machine so they can serve decent coffee. prices way too high.

“Indifferent waitresses”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

Waited for ten minutes to get service on the outside terrace.
Four waitresses with nothing to do ignored us. One actually started staring in the display window to avoid catchingbour attention
We left in the end

“OK and extremely expensive!”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

2 of us ate here and for a slice of cake, a pastry and 2 hot chocolates, we were stung by a whopping bill of DKK220 (£24)! Whaaat!
Insane.
Yes, the cakes are nice-looking (I only tried one which was OK), and the hot chocolate was delicious, and the old decor inside is unique (apparently the place has been running since the 1870s), but I wouldn't say it was worth the price. I visited around 9am and would have expected a buzz but there was no real atmosphere either which may have been a one-off so I wouldn't necessarily judge it by that.
There are countless other bakeries around and whilst you may not find the 'posh' cakes that you get here, you'll still be extremely satisfied at much more reasonable prices!

“OMG cakes”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

These cakes are unreal. We went to La Glace every day that it was open during our trip; each time, I ate one piece there and got one to-go for that night. Wow - amazing!!!!

The line can be long but it actually moves quite quickly, and there is plenty of seating inside.

Tip: There are water glasses and a faucet in the downstairs seating area, so you can wash down all of that chocolate!

“The old-world charm is still relevant here”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Let yourself be transported to another era. The cafe is like a time capsule, from the decor to the staff with the old-fashioned apron. But don't let the age of the place and the appearance of tradition fool you. This bakery has been innovating since Hans Christian Andersen was still alive. Many of the cakes were invented for special occasions and continue to sell until these days. People must love them. I love them. They are beautiful, with a nice touch of whimsical decoration like the Volmer cake with an imprint of the bakery's name on the marzipan sheet that envelopes the cake, or the festive Sports cake, decorated with caramelized choux pastries. We had those, and they both were delicate, light, creamy and not overly sweet. They all went well with a nice pot of coffee, which was free for refills. The only disappointment was the danish (wienerbrød). It was soggy and had a flat custard texture; we had better ones at emmerys and Lagkagehuset.

Go there alone or with your friends, and enjoy an extended coffee break. The service here was efficient and old-schooled. The clientele ranged from elderly friends hanging out to, to a couple picking their wedding cake, to young male athletes from the UK (based on their team jackets) letting themselves go with carbs and sugar. It was so refreshing to see tradition remaining relevant at a bakery that was not all about cupcakes and macaroons.
