“Traditional Danish Cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2014

We called in to this cafe after visiting the Amalienborg Slott and was very pleasantly suprised. We had delicious coffee served in a china pot and cups. To eat, following a detailed explanation from the extremely helpful waitress, we opted for the salted herring and salmon, both dishes being served with plenty of bread. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and I was left with the impression that this is the sort of place that the Danish would lunch in. Not a tourist trap at all. Overall an really good experience.

“An average meal with average prices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2014

Heard a lot on TA but nothing to take your breath away really.
Only open for lunch and popular for business lunches, you should make a booking.
Cramped but cosy, the service is prompt and attentive.
The beef tartar was a winner, but fried plaice and fried pork were mediocre and disappointing.
Not worth a revisit in my opinion.

“Charming and friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 February 2014

How lucky we were to pass in front of Amalie the first day we were in Copenhagen! A bonus! Simple but authentic traditional dishes (herring with delicious dark bread, salads, stews) in an equally authentic atmosphere. We saw only locals eating there, but then again, we were there in the heart of winter. The place is small but cozy, with old pictures and paintings on walls. Very homey. I happened to take a look at the kitchen on my way to the WC and it had nothing commercial in it: it was right out of a country home. The WC was also decorated with objects that showed a homey touch, very personal. The service excellent and very, very friendly. Prices reasonable. Even though our meals were included in our hotel, we couldn't help going back to Amalie on our last day!
