“Nice Hotel and location , not a 5* though”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

This was our first vacation with our 1 year old. We found a great package with Cyprus paradise for hotel half board and flight for 500 pounds.

We had transfers from the airport to the hotel and this was all good. We were lucky enough to be checked into the Pine court rooms which is the newest building for the resort.
The rooms are nice / clean and fresh.

-negatives of the new rooms : no tea/coffee facilities, no free wifi which for a 5 * we were not impressed with. Not enough toilet paper was left or towels especially given we were with a baby.

The resort itself was nice, pool very large but very busy. Sea was nice spacious and enough sunbeds for all. The gardens were lovely and green.

The food options for breakfast and dinner were good. Large selection of food for each and did not get bored. Drinks were extra which was not to bad.

I do not think this hotel was a 5*. I would say at the most a 4*. Wifi was only free for 10mins a day and then you had to pay for a voucher that you can use for 1hour to 5 hours where you have to log in and log off.

Service by the pool was slow and ordering food at the pool side cafe was a nightmare, you would start telling the waiter what we wanted to order he would just look at our face and then say oh you have started ordering. Please bare in mind we speak the native language but the fact they are so unproffesional meant they are not even giving the customer their full attention.

Pool side entertainment was good and they kept the smile on our face daily.

Room Tip: Ask for the Pine court building. Its new and rooms are nicer.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the hotel, your review is of help to us. I am not sure if you asked for assistance but the number of towels in a room is standard, but on request extra towels can be provided. I wish that we could provide a free service for Wi fi, but this is not possible as it is very expensive in Northern Cyprus and we are a large hotel. I have discussed your comment about the pool bar and we will definitely improve our services in this area.

This hotel is enormous, and not a place that gets you a very intimate atmosphere, and personal service. You feel much more anonymous here than on regular hotels, this may appeal to some.

The bungalows are ok, but some has an older interior which needs an update, not 5 star, or even 4 star. I'd say 2 star. The newer interior bungalows are more like 3 star and quite ok.

We realized that this hotel is located very far away from the Kyrenia, so eating out is not an option without a car, or taking expensive taxi. But luckily the food here is really good, and fairly price. This is not gastronomy on a 5 star level, but the buffet is so big that you don't get bored with it, and they have great bread, and fresh fruits.

I wouldn't mind coming back here.

Room Tip: Ask for the bungalows shown in the advertising. They are newer and better.

Nice big hotel, green yards, comfortable apartments, good service, perfect breakfast, especialy possibility to have it outside, on terrace. One bad thing, that Wi Fi free of charge is available only 10 minutes per day, and this not correspond to internet description. Hotel is isolated by mountains and closest town is 8 km away. But if you want just to rest after hard job, it is nice to spend time there and to relax. Even if it is very big, there is not so many people in the autumn.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and had a relaxing time. Perhaps you will come back for a holiday at another time of the year to see what Northern Cyprus and our hotel is like in the spring.

Our expectations of this is a very large hotel complex were limited as we normally target smaller hotels. However on virtually all levels we were impressed.
Our room in the new complex ( Pine Court?) were larger than most 4 star hotels. Clean and well equipped - would have liked tea making equipment. Staff were all helpful and pleasant. Food: we thought was good with a very wide choice ( we prefer vegetarian food) accepting that it is a large buffet. The dining room is large and a little canteen like but the staff quickly clear tables and breakfast over looking the beach is very pleasant. The queues can be annoying although we found by coming in later than the majority over came this problem to a great extent.
The beach is excellent and there seemed to be adequate sun beds and the system of obtaining fresh towels when ever you need one works well. The gym was well equipt and the indoor pool pleasant .
The hotel is about 10 miles from Kyrenia, there are hotel buses to town as well as Dulmus passing the door. Unfortunately neither run after 7pm so taxi's are necessary if one goes out in the evening.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are excellant

We have just come back from a week at this hotel and a few things both good and bad we found with it.

Bad: it catered for 2400 people, it is huge. And if you happen to want to eat at the same time then you would think there was a food shortage about to happen (which mostly it didn;t).
Good: There is a top floor which can be accessed walking up the stair facing you when you come in, but I would recommend they actually ban children up there so it is quieter.
Good: The staff seem all organised everywhere, it was a hug operation to ensure everything went smoothy so no riots happen!!

Bad:The pool, large, deep and because of this, cold. You went in because of you wanting to swim, stopping would mean you would go numb. Nobody was hardly in it.
Good:Beach and warmer sea would be a far better for all concerned.

Bad: Very limited entertainment.
Good: There was a violinist in the entrance of the restaurant every evening, could have done with being in the Pine Lodge bar, would have been more appropriate.

Bad: No Shops around, no way of just nipping out for a change of scenery.
Good: A local bus directly at the entrance of the reception, though the last bus from the local town was 7pm.

Good: Rooms (we were at Pine court 1) was nice
Bad: No tea, coffee in room, had a pine tree actually grow up in front of our balcony which did have no view anyway but could have been a way of entering our room, when the cleaner kept leaving out patio door open (both sides opens). This was a bit worrying.

Good: Had clean beach towels given every day.

A matter of opinion
There was a number of cats on the complex which being a cat lover we didn't mind, and the guests seem to like them, its not for everyone.

Bad: No shop on site which sold things you would want to buy (treats, drink for the beach.etc). Which they would sell water almost as high as a bottle of beer.

Good: You would always see the staff doing something, gardening, cleaning.etc They did take pride in the place.

Only 60 English was staying at the Hotel the time we went, majority was Turkish.

Overall we did like the hotel, we would have preferred to have been in a more quieter hotel.

Room Tip: Pine Court (there is 2 buildings) pick the one with the reception and bar at the bottom, there is an...

Thank you for your review and I appreciate your comments. You came at one of our busiest times Bayram which is a religious celebration when all families come together. Entertainment during this festive time is geared more around families and so a little different from our normal programmes. However, we did still had a show at the ampitheatre, resident singers in the lobby area and a different entertainer on another evening.
Our season is now changing and the sun is not out so long for this reason at this time of year the outdoor pool can be colder, but the sea should be still of a good temperature and of course we have our indoor pool.

The Acapulco resort is advertised as 5* but is in reality 4* by European standards. Having said that everything was pretty good, the room, the staff, the food were all perfectly satisfactory. The resort was spacious and there were plenty of sunbeds, the private beach was large and swimming was good. The resort is a bit isolated in its own bay and you need a car or taxi to go anywhere as there is nowhere to walk to as such. The meal times can be a bit manic in the huge buffet style restaurant so be early to miss the mob. Evening entertainment is a bit repetitive and not as good as other places I have been to. Overall great value for money if you can get the deal I got so I cannot really complain!

Room Tip: Rooms in Pine Court are nice and quiet.

Just arrived back and felt the need to write this. The food in this hotel was dreadful. The queues were so long and when you finally got to the front yuk it was luke warm and very repetative. We actually ate out a few nights which meant a bus there and a taxi back but it was better than the hotel. My husband witnessed staff fighting between themselves in one of the bars on two occasions. The pool was very very cold so swam in the sea instead.Beach was beautiful and complex itself very nice.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It is extremely rare that staff argue as they work as a big family/team at the Acapulco. Bad behaviour is not tolerated and I can assure you that what your husband witnessed was dealt with immediately and the staff are no longer with us. There are many chefs standing at the various food areas and if at any time a guest is not happy they would appreciate that they are told of the problem so that it can be rectified, occasionally there can be a technical failure with the burners.
