Good for a tea/coffee through light snacks to a full meal; overlooking Slapton Ley for good 'birding'.

“Devon's Best kept Secret”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

We went to the Boathouse in July for a family meal to celebrate my son’s 2nd birthday. Firstly, the views were amazing – beach and sea on one side, the lake and Devon countryside on the other. Secondly, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Despite being busy, they went out of their way to be helpful, and offered us a very warm welcome. They arranged the tables to ensure that all 20 of us were seated together and comfortably, and took the time to make sure that everyone got what they wanted. Finally and most importantly, the food and drink was brilliant. You just cannot get food of this standard and at these prices anywhere in the area. The fish and chips were absolutely fantastic – generous portions of fresh fish in a light batter, freshly made proper pizzas, delicious home-made desserts, and of course the requisite Devon teas... Even my fussy son polished off his scampi and chips. They also have a wide selection of drinks, from yummy coffees to a range of real ales.

We went back recently for a couple of drinks overlooking the Ley and you couldn’t get a more perfect location in terms of views in the early evening watching the sunset from their lovely outdoor seating area. Again brilliant food and service! The Boathouse is now one of our top places to eat, drink and relax… They are open over the winter, so we will definitely be back again soon – can’t wait!

“Would highly recommend !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2012

The Pub next door was very busy, very stressy with a 3 and 4 year old as we could not get a table. We left and went next door, excellent service with a smile, I do not understand why it was so much quieter. We had fish and chips which tasted fresh and well presented.
