“Service and food not as good as usual in the bar whilst Rod Stewar was in in the restaurant.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

Have been here several times now and this time was on a Groupon deal the same night as the Rod Stewart tribute act was in the restaurant (26th July).
Due to poor service we experienced and tasteless food served by harassed staff I am wondering if the management are getting greedy or biting off more than they can chew. The beef ragu was tasteless and we had to keep asking for condiments etc. Apology was made in advance that our desserts would take some time because they were about to serve he fish course in the restaurant. It was indeed delayed and when they arrived portions were tiny. The "unconventional carrot cake" was indeed unconventional.A complete joke. Wish they would stop deconstructing desserts. They are no good at it. Evidenced by deconstructed apple crumble last time.
Groupon, function, whatever, need to get their act together or risk losing repeat custom!

“Rod Stewart tribute”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014 via mobile

I have visited the Bull many times for meals and family bookings and have always found the food and service excellent,so I was rather disappointed with Saturdays Rod Stewart night,we were a party of 11 and the table we were given was far too small for the number of people, we were very squashed together and one side was a long bench against a wall to one side and the back so you could only get out from one side, meaning if anyone needed to get out then everyone on that side had to get out. Also you had no choice of meals it was a set menu, Sweetcorn and chili soup to start which was very nice, followed by a crab and advocado dish which tasted of sea water with watery avocado dressing,it was very unpleasant and only 1 of our party of 11 ate it! We were then given Lamb which was very nice but slightly rare for some of our party, the last course was apricot frangipane with apricot icecream, this dish was completely lacking in any flavour and was a very disappointing end to our meal. The service was not to bad but our waitress kept asking if we could pass our plates, glasses etc and even scrape the plates!! As she couldn't reach because of the rediculous table positioning! I feel that as many tables had been crammed In as possible which was a shame as surely customer comfort is more important.
I would visit the bull again for meals but would avoid any of the tribute nights for the above reasons.

“ROD STUART NIGHT LAST NIGHT”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

what a disaster,11 people cramed on one long table made for about 6 one poor lady sat all night with the window sill in her back having spent in access of £700 we were all disappointed, every time some wanted the toilet half the table had to move, the dance was covered by yet anther table,we could not talk to each other because of the table situation, we have visited the bull many times, and have been well satisfied I don't think we shall be returning, well disappointed. on the plus side rod was good, the food was good but the evening a let down. k. a Sheehan.

“Great food, great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

Although the prices are pretty expensive, its worth treating yourself every once in awhile. The food is fantastic, cannot fault it at all. And Chris, our server gave the best example of customer service I've experienced in a long time. He really is a credit to the establishment.

“Dinner on a Deal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

We visited this restaurant on a Groupon deal. We received a warm welcome and, whilst we didn't actually get into the Willow Room due to a function, we were seated in a very pleasant area away from the pub part.

The service was excellent, friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. We concluded that it was extremely good value on the deal we had, but that it would be overpriced at the normal pricing. We would go back, but not without a deal.
