The one thing this place has going for it is the location. Umdloti is beautiful and the views from here are incredible.

That's where the good things end unfortunately. This is the classic example of badly implemented owner/manager separation (maybe also an owner who has no finesse for food)

This is food for people who don't know what good food is. Equivalent to a bad Mugg and Bean. You might as well buy fireworks instead of spending your money here.

If you eat here, expect :
* seriously below average coffee.
* untrained service staff.
* standards such as 'tinned' blueberries being passed off as fresh fruit.
* low quality baked goods.
* very inconsistent food with a general lack of finesse.
* unavailability of certain menu items eg. types of breads specified.

I had high hopes for this place but after 3 separate visits it was nothing but a disappointment. I've experienced similar at the other Java cafes. If you want good food and are in Umdloti head further north to Ballito and stay away from any Java.

This was our breakfast spot - freshly picked avocado on toasted rye bread, delicious! Hubby preferred the full bacon-eggs-toast thing.

Went to uShaka branch for breakfast. Menu and service was really good but our meals, drinks, desserts took ages to arrive. The manager was however kind enough to keep us updated, appeared to be problem in kitchen which was not elaborated on.

About the only place in Umdloti Beach open on Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch.

Very good variety of food on menu to suit all palets. Some unusual and tastey items on the menu.

Clean, open-feel to restaurant area.

We ate in a group of 6 persons... not one of us was dissapointed with the brunch (including the speed-of-service/taste/presentation/etc.)

The venue is not open at night.

We were looking forward to a great breakfast. Excellent menu, friendly waitress. But an hour after we've ordered, we still didn't get any food and they could still not tell us how much longer to wait. And the managers response was 'it happens', no apologies. We left without eating, very hungry and disappointed. I won't be back.
