My customer hosted a conference for 40 people at this conference centre, which will undoubtedly also be visited by tourists. The staff is very friendly and will help whenever required. The rooms are well equipped, the bathroom with a shower is basic but okay for the purposes. Breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch and dinner were complete, a good variety of food was available. The meeting rooms were right sizes for larger and smaller groups. The scenery is magnificent, out in the country, river behind the guesthouse, a hilly landscape with meadows and trees.

Here for a wedding weekend. I was amazed by the extent of the garden -a true jump into nature. This hotel works a lot for Companies' retreats and can definitely give isolation and inspiration. Very professional staff in all compartments.
Very nice common areas, indoor and outdoor. All courtyards have flowers and are very well taken care of. It looks fresh but also with historich touch.
Breakfast and dinners are very good. Portions are never that large, as typical of Sweden and price is in the high end -fully justified.
Just to find a defect: probably the open kitchen is a bit too big and also the courtyard of the rooms give the impression of a huge mass-turism place. Curtains do not shield from morning sun -beware.

South Sweden has many high standard accommodations but not that many in the very middle of nature. This is one of them. Idyllic located in a tranquil park and surrounded by woods and green fields, Margretetorp is an obvious base for exploring neighboring Hallandsaasen, idyllic peninsula of Bjärehalvön and the town of Ängelholm.

The inn has moved around a few times and has a turbulent history dating back from the late Danish-Swedish wars in early 18th century. Our room was equipped with antique French furniture and had a rustic atmosphere of historic inn, still being very clean. You feel at home immediately. Front desk service very friendly and professional. Did not try the pricey restaurant. The old part is cosy but the new bistro area a bit cafeteria-like. Breakfast selection and quality is on a level with some of the best international hotels. Large parking area for free.

May we suggest that bicycles are made available for rent or loan, as the surroundings invite to bicycle trips. This option is also stated in the hotel information in the room.

This inn is very typical Swedish and the history for the Swedish inns in general, goes back to the 16th century, when the king Eric XIV founded a law that demanded the Swedish communities to offer places where travelers could find over-night accommodation, food and beverages and also change horses. Margretetorp Gästgifvaregården is just a such inn!

The atmosphere is very friendly with friendly staff and where you can spend some days to do excursions in this beautiful part of Sweden. The rooms are charming but not perfect. A warm summer day can result in a high temperature in the room, which is the reason that I only give "a four" in my rate for this inn.

The breakfast is fantastic with a broad variation. And please, don’t miss to have a gourmet dinner in the restaurant for a reasonable price! If you only have one night to stop over, it is a significant risk that you want to extend the stay at the hotel one night more to try another dish!

So if you want to see an old, traditional Swedish inn, Margretetorp Gästgifvaregården is a must! The inn also offers free Internet at the reception area.
